Gabe

My head pounded as my ears began to ring, feeling as though they would burst any second.

I didn't want to get up. My chest constricted painfully as I though about running into Sam again and my throat closed up, already painfully sore from crying myself to sleep the previous night.

"Gabe, get up already!" Cas smiled, waving a hand in front of my face as I slowly opened my eyes.

"What," I groaned. I definitely did not want to go to school today.

"Come on!" I finally managed to pull myself out of bed, sighing as I did so.

Cas rushed around the room grabbing clothes and basically throwing them at me, yelling for me to take a shower. "What are you so excited for?"

"Just... hurry," he whispered harshly and I nodded as I left to shower quickly.

After getting dressed and messing with my hair, Cas practically dragged me down the stairs, shoving some toast in my hands and saying goodbye to Anna, who was sick and staying home today.

Then he rushed me out and over to the school. "What is up with you Cas? You seem even more happy than usual." Cas just looked at me a second, trying to hide a grin and ultimately failing. "Does this have anything to do with a specific Winchester?"

This time, when Cas looked at me, he was confused. He looked at me sideways, eyes squinted in thought before he shook his head.

This confused me. What did that look mean? What was going on? Why was Cas so happy if Dean wasn't involved?

"Cas, man... are you okay?"

"Yes. Gosh Gabe. Can't I just be excited for a new school year!"

"Dude... we've been here for a few months already. This is hardly a new school year," I pointed out, but he just looked at me again. Looked at me like he was trying to figure out what world I had been in.

"No, Gabe. We just moved here and are starting a new school. What the hell were you dreaming about where you were already here?"

"Um... nothing. Sorry," I muttered, frowning in confusion.

What was he talking about? Then my eyes widened in realization. "Oh... I get it. Ha ha. That was funny. Jokes over now," I muttered. Again, he looked at me weird. "Seriously Cas. This isn't funny any more."

"What isn't funny?"

"You pretending like we've never been here. We were just here yesterday for my Performance."

"What are you talking about, Gabe? Are you okay?" He looked me over worriedly and I couldn't help but frown further. This was making no sense. How could he not know that we've been going here for months already.

"Nothing. Let's just... go," I replied and he nodded warily.

We walked into the cafeteria, packed with students of every sort and I couldn't help but snort at how different they all seemed in the mornings.

I spotted Sam and his group and began walking over to him, but Cas shoved me aside, laughing loudly as he ran up to Dean. "Hey!"

"Hey! I was wondering when you'd get here," Dean mumbled, shaking hands with Cas.

"We get here at the same time every day," I said quickly, but that just earned me a lot of weird looks from the group.

"Anyways... how have you been, you know just having moved in and all?"

"Great! And how is my favorite pen pal?"

"Please... I'm your only pen pal," Dean chuckled.

"That's why you have to be my favorite," Cas laughed, blushing slightly.

I was standing there confused. Dean and Cas were pen pals? What the heck! I must be dreaming or something. I looked down, remembering something I learned once. Apparently, if you were having a dream, you wouldn't have 10 fingers. Sometimes you'd have more, sometimes less, but you wouldn't have 10.

I sat there, slowly counting my fingers. 8...9...10. I shook my head. This can't be right. This had to be a dream.

I recounted. 10. What the heck was going on?

"Hey, man... You alright?" Sam asked.

"Yeah. Thanks Sam," I mumbled quietly. Sam stood there, eyes wide, shocked. "What?" I stared at him. He was the one I should be asking if he was okay.

"H-how do you know my name?"

"What? We've known each other for a..."

"I've never met you before."

"Sam, what are you..." My eyes widened in realization. "Oh... I'm sorry... you just... uh... I've.... Yeah... I have no idea how to explain this. I'm sorry, man."

"Yeah. Whatever," he shrugged, turning back around to talk to Cas, who Dean already introduced as his pen pal.

NOTE: I'm sorry this was a short chapter. I've had a busy week, a ton of homework just came rushing forward and I've been soooo busy doing that. I forgot that I had to write this. I more or less do have a plan for the upcoming chapters, but I hope you enjoyed this, despite the fact that it was short. And I can't wait to see what you guys think of what's happening.-Captain
