This is a sequel to the "A Family Reunited" series from this book and the Guardians of the Galaxy book. It's also heavily influenced from the Endgame movie (so no reading if you haven't seen it and you don't want to any spoilers).

It gets angsty here, no lie about that, along with some language. Just be prepared for what's to come.

-------------Flashback----------------

"Do you really have to go?" your son asks of you as you prepare for the upcoming battle. You had brought (y/s/n) to the Avengers compound where Pepper, your new stepmother, and technically your son's step-grandmother, can keep an eye on him. After a year in space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, you decided now would be the time to come back to Earth, feeling maybe it was time to see your father Tony Stark again. It felt like the perfect time to make amends with your estranged father and maybe introduce him to his grandson. However, by the time you got back to Earth with your son, you just received word that Thanos was coming with the goal of collecting the infinity stones in mind. Your father stowed away on the giant wheel like ship with Spider-man and Dr. Strange in hopes of stopping the mad Titan's followers from collecting the time stone. Your husband Peter had set out for space with Thor and the Guardians to stop Thanos from collecting the reality and power stones while stayed on Earth with the remaining Avengers to fight the his alien army on the ground, and stop them from getting to the mind stone.

"I'm afraid, so, sweetie," you smile a little, trying your best to keep your son's hope alive. You knew it wasn't easy on him; even though it's only been a year, it still feels like he just got you back after being gone against your will for three years. You could see in his eyes that he was begging you not to go. You couldn't blame him; not only would be gone, but his dad was off fighting now too.

"It's not gonna be like last time, I promise," you assure, pulling your boy into a hug, "Your father and I will be back before you know it. Until then you can stay here with your grandma Pepper, and the two of you can have plenty of fun without us." "Please come back," he lightly pleads. You nod and kiss him on the head.

You turn to Pepper, who witnessed the affection between mother and child, "Make sure he eats his veggies before desert and that he gets to bed on time," you tell her. "Well as the grandmother, I can't quite make that promise," Pepper jokes, trying to lighten the mood, "Hey," she says to you, "you'll be fine. He'll be fine too." "Tony?" you ask to which she nods, "If I know your old man, he won't go down easily, not without a plan and a fight." "...I'm really glad he found you," you honestly tell her, "If you two ever think about having kids when this is all over, I know you'll make a better father this time around."  "You know he really did miss you, the whole time you were gone," she tells you, "And...it really did break his heart to finally give up and assume you were dead." "I know," you say.
With that you join the other Avengers on the quinjet and head for Wakanda, hoping beyond hope that you'll make it back home this time.

"So what do I really call you?"  your son asks Pepper, "Grandma? Grandmama? Gran Gran?" "How about we just stick with Pepper for the time being," Pepper suggests; being called a grandmother was making her feel way older than she needed to feel, especially since there was some big news she had yet to break to Tony.

-------------Five Years Later-------------------------

You were currently sitting at the bar, like you've been doing nearly everyday for the past five years, not even giving a damn anymore about how many drinks you've already had this hour. What was even the point of keeping track? What was the point of doing anything when the ones you loved had become victims of the snap? It was bad enough that day you found out you lost your husband, but then you come back to the compound to get the news broken to you that your son had also turned to ash. The fact that they were gone wasn't what made the pain unbearable; it was the fact that there was no way to bring them back now.
