Chapter 82: Darkness

12:40 A.M. Monika's POV

"And we'll leave this to you as we head back home." I respond before I warp me and the girls back to our house, but we end up in a dark area.

"Monika, where are we? I'm starting to think your powers are on the fritz..." Natsuki sasses.

"Calm down, Natty! Let's figure out where we are first." Sayori responds before the lights come on, and our eyes widen.

"...where did I take us..?" I ask as we look around the Batcave.

"Obviously, it's the Batcave." Natsuki scoffs.

"But which one?" Yuri asks.

"What do you mean which one? There's only one Batcave." Natsuki responds.

"Two wehds. Puyrohlel. Univuhse." Zoe retorts.

"Well, all we need to do is look around. I know basically EVERY Batman." Sayori explains.

"You'd be surprised how many comics she read after I showed her Parfait Girls." Natsuki adds.

"...but this version of Batman isn't a comic." I respond.

"How do you know?" Yuri asks.

"Look." I respond, pointing to the Batcomputer.

It has a Batsymbol on it, but it's flashing like a WiFi signal.

"We're in a TV show version." I add.

"The Batwave?" Sayori asks before she gasps and purrs loudly to avoid squealing. "We're in 'The Batman'!!"

"It's her favorite series of Batman. I mean, the Mayor's fucking Adam West." Natsuki explains.

"...who?" Zoe asks.

"You're... kidding, right?" Sayori asks.

"Lay off! Oy naevah gawt a childhood!" Zoe exclaims, making us shush her.

"That's... kinda sad, actually." Natsuki whispers.

"Adam West was an American actor, known primarily for his role as Batman in the 1960s ABC series of the same name and its 1966 theatrical feature film. West began acting in films in the 1950s. He played opposite Chuck Connors in 'Geronimo' and The Three Stooges in 'The Outlaws Is Coming'. He also appeared in the science fiction film 'Robinson Crusoe on Mars' and performed voice work on 'The Fairly OddParents', 'The Simpsons', and 'Family Guy', playing fictional versions of himself in all three. Late in his career, West starred in two direct-to-video animated Batman films, 'Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders', and 'Batman vs. Two-Face', the latter of which was released posthumously. He died in 2017, at age 88." Yuri explains, making Zoe hang her head.

"Sayori cries every single time his birthday comes up because of it." Natsuki explains, and Sayori sniffles.

"Don't remind me..." Sayori sobs, making Natsuki hug Sayori tightly.

"Please stop crying... we don't want to be found..." Natsuki whispers, rubbing Sayori's back, and Sayori nods, making Natsuki pat Sayori's back before they separate, and Sayori rubs her eyes.

"Good now." Sayori responds quietly, and I sigh.

"Hey, where's Shantae and Rotty?" Natsuki asks, and we look around.

"Maybe they were actually sent back home, and we got unlucky." Yuri responds.

"Well, we'll check that theory after we try... getting out of here." I whisper, and I look around for any exit before I spot the Batmobile driving in.
