Colby looks down. "What does it feel like?" He asks. Salina raises an eyebrow. "Being fed off of."
"She hasn't told you?" She asks. Colby shakes his head, ignoring the look Sam was giving him. "I've been fed on a few times when I was still human. I still remember it."
"What's it like?"
"Oh, it's amazing. It doesn't hurt at all. It feels better than anything you've ever felt."
Colby pauses, thinking. Then he sighs. "Then I don't see a problem with being fed on."
Sam stares at him looking horrified, and I turn to him, scowling. "Absolutely not." I say.
"Are you insane?" Sam asks him.
"If it doesn't hurt, why not?" Colby replies. "Besides, you haven't been feeding off of humans, and that hasn't got to be good."
"Feeding off blood bags has been making you sick, Penny." Salina says. "If he's willing, then why turn it down?"
I stand up, glaring at Salina and pointing at Colby. "I'm not going to put his life at risk to save mine."
"Penelope, you die, then the entire clan dies."
I snarl. "It's not happening." My voice shook with anger. "You've got him all wound up on being fed because you told him about the Scented One. Because you told him everything he didn't need to know."
"He had every right to know." Salina fights back. "He's your Scented One. He's just as involved in this as you." I don't reply, but my angry glare doesn't move nor fade. I could actually feel the anger coming off me in waves. "If he's willing, feed off him. You will die if you don't. And you don't have another choice anyways."
I didn't talk about it again. The next day, I hardly talked to Colby at all. He had to spend all day convincing Sam to not only keep my vampirism a secret, but to quite telling him not to let me feed off him. While he was doing that, I was working with my clan to claim the area. The claim was successfully peaceful, but I was still mad.
During the next two weeks, I was kept busy on running errands in the area, but I was getting sick from feeding off blood bags. During this time, Salina kept trying to convince me to feed from Colby. Finally though, to Sam's disappointment, I agreed. Only to see if it would actually work.
"Okay, Colby, listen closely." Salina says. Salina, Colby and I were at his apartment. I was sitting next to Colby, the dark circles under my eyes very pronounced. "When Penelope bites you, you are going to want to be very still. Every time you move, you give off your scent. So if you move, she's not going to want to stop." She then turns to me. "Penelope, remember to control yourself. Don't kill him."
I nod, then move to sit behind Colby. "Lean back." I tell him as Salina leaves the room. He obeys me, leaning back into me, his head back. I could hear his heart pounding. "You're nervous."
He swallows. "A little."
"Just relax." I whisper. He closes his eyes and I open my mouth, my fangs sliding out. I sink them into his neck, making him gasp then sigh. His blood floods my mouth and I moan at how absolutely delicious it was. It was the best thing I've ever tasted.
I continue drinking until I hear Salina open the door, rushing in with her eyes wide. She comes to my side, touching my arm. "Penelope," She says. "Control yourself. Listen to him."
I force myself to stop, listening to Colby's heart. It was slow, but still there. I needed to stop. I pull away and lick the puncture marks, healing the wound in a second. I put my head back, closing my eyes and licking my lips. Colby was laying heavily on top of me, completely out of it. I didn't blame him. Vampire venom was like euphoria. And it was very addictive too.
"You did well, Penny." Salina tells me. "He's still alive. Just..." She pauses, watching Colby. "Very high." She leans down, taking his shoulder in her hand and shaking him. "Colby?"
He opens his eyes, the black of his pupils dilated so much that his eyes looked black. "Hmm?" He slurs.
"Yep. He's high." Salina laughs.
