Part 65 (Colby's POV)

At first, nothing happened. Then I saw myself, laying on a bed, covered in blood. I was motionless, pale and dead-looking. Beside me, I felt Penny shift. I didn't know how, but I knew it was her. We watched in silence for what felt like forever. My body already looked different. I wasn't as tan as I was before, but more pale and the skin around my eyes was darker. I watched myself move and open my eyes. But my eyes weren't the normal light blue that I always saw when I was human; they were pitch black.
Salina suddenly pulls her hand away, and the present day room swims back into view. Her eyes were as wide as mine were, but for a different reason. She then turns to Penny.
"He's Regime." She says quietly. Both girls look at me. Salina looked a little scared, but Penny looked angry.
Penny turns away. "They'll take him if they know."
"They probably already do." Salina replies.
Penny doesn't reply. Instead, she turns to me. "You are not to tell anybody about this. No human nor vampire is to know. No one except Salina and I."
"Penny-" Salina starts, but Penny cuts her off.
"No." Her eyes flash dangerously as she glares at Salina. She turns back to me. "We wait to see if they come. But until then, tell no one about this." She leaves the room.
I watch her go, then sink onto the edge of the bed, staring at the floor. Salina sits besides me. "What did you see?" She asks.
I look up at her. "I saw me waking up as a vampire."
She frowns. "That's definitely not what I was thinking of."
"What?"
"I was thinking of when Penny first met you."
I pause, confused. "When you say I'm Regime-"
Salina cuts me off, putting a finger to her lips. "Shh!"
I lick my lips and lower my voice. "When you saw I'm Regime, what do you mean by that?"
"You have the same mental power as Regime members have. You can see into someone's mind, see what they're currently thinking, what they've thought in the past, and even change certain things in their minds."
"But I'm not Regime."
"It's never happened before. No vampire has ever had this kind of power since the Regime first started. And that was during the beginning of mankind."
"So-"
"So that means you're an evolved Regime vampire." Salina says. "Something is new with you."
"Wait, hold on. Back up a little." I hold my hands up. "What if the Regime is killed? No one would have that power."
"It would very difficult, almost impossible to kill the Regime."
"How?"
"Because one, each Regime member has at least two personal body guards. Then the members, as a whole, have body guards. And as I said, each member has the same mental power as you. They can read into one's mind, changing it, and even using their mind against them." Salina explains. "It's almost impossible to kill the Regime."
"Okay, so what about me being evolved?"
"Well, for one, you're still a newborn. You're not supposed to have this kind of power this soon." She says. "And if you are, then who knows what you can do?"
"What do you think I can do?" I ask, looking down at my hands.
Salina sighs, sounding disappointed. "To be honest, I don't know."
"Has powers like controlling things ever happened?"
"Controlling things? Like controlling water or fire? No, never."
"Well, like you said, I'm a first, right? This has never happened and I'm not supposed to have this kind of power this soon. What if I can do other things?"
"I don't know, Colby. I really don't."
"Can't we try to see if I can control this mind things so I don't freak out anyone?"
She sighs. "Sure." She shifts so that she was facing me, then holds out her hand. "Try to only see what I am currently thinking."
I nod, and take her hand. I look into her hazel eyes, and then they disappear. Now I was watching from the sidelines, surrounded by vampires, with Penny in the middle of the circle standing next to a male vampire, both looking down at another vampire being held down by two others. One of the ones holding the middle vampire down I recognized as Micheal, but the other two I didn't know. Then the scene vanished, and I was looking at Salina's eyes again. She pulls her hand away.
"What did you see?" She asks.
"I saw Penny. She was standing in the middle of a circle with someone else. And there was another vampire being held down by two others. One of them was Micheal."
She purses her lips. "That wasn't what I was thinking."
"Who were they?"
"You were right. Penny was with our last leader, James. The one being held down gave our clan information to our rivals. His name was Dave. The two holding him down were Micheal and Colin."
"Wasn't Colin the one Micheal killed?"
"Yes." She nods. "And Penny killed James and Micheal."
"What happened to Dave? The one being held down?"
"Penny killed him. James told her to. She had to prove she can lead."
