"Sal, go tell Turner to get someone for him." I tell her quietly. Salina nods and leaves the room. I sit on the edge of my bed, watching him. He'd be waking up any moment. Salina returns a minute later, and sits with me.
After a few minutes, Colby stirs. He opens his eyes, and the first thing I notice is the blue is gone. His eyes are black. He blinks and takes a breath, looking around. Then his eyes find me. He keeps them locked me as he sits up.
"Colby?" I ask quietly. I cautiously reach my hand out, knowing full well he was now stronger than me.
He turns his head, looking around the room. Then he looks back at me. "What happened?" His voice was raspy, like he hadn't spoken in days.
I lick my lips. "You were bitten."
"Bitten." He repeats, copying my movement.
I turn to the door as it opens, revealing Turner carrying a woman, who looked like she had fainted. "Salina." I warn, when I notice Colby immediately look over, his black eyes locked on the girl.
Salina and I jump onto him, holding him down just as he makes a move towards the girl. We each take an arm and only just manage to keep him down as he struggles to break  free.
"Colby, listen to me." I pant. Jesus Christ, he was strong. I was okay with the other newborns killing, but Colby? It would hurt him more than anything if he killed anyone. "Colby, calm down. Listen to me!"
Colby snarls at me, baring his new fangs. I get his attention, but I didn't get him to stop struggling.
"Colby, listen. You will kill her."
He pauses, glaring at me, breathing like he was in pain. I suddenly remember when I had first changed. I was so hungry. All I could think about was drinking blood to make the pain in my throat to go away.
"You will kill her. I'll let you feed, but you have to listen to me." I tell him.
He attempts to break free from Salina's side. "Let me go!"
I bring one of my knees up and hold it down on his wrist, the use my free hand to grab his face, before kissing him. The sudden and unexpected kiss seemed to calm him down a little, and he stops fighting. I pull away and see his eyes on me. I could see the hunger in them.
"Turner." I turn my head to him and motion him over. He walks over, carrying the girl. "Just stand here." I point to the side of the bed, next to Colby. Then I take the girls hand that was hanging down, before looking back to Colby. "Listen to her heart." I say. "If her heart starts going slow, you stop. Okay?" He stares at the girl, then glances at me before nodding. I bring the girls wrist closer to him and let his arm go. "Salina, don't." I say as she moves to let his other arm free.
Colby immediately takes the girl's arm and bites, closing his eyes and moaning. I let him feed, carefully listening to the girl's heart.
"How did he change?" Turner asks quietly. "You didn't-"
"No, it wasn't me." I reply. "Micheal bit him."
"How?"
"He attacked him earlier today."
"Where is now?"
I reach into my back pocket and pull out my phone. I saw several texts from the other guys, telling me that the body was burned. "Dead." I put my phone back into my pocket.
"Did you kill-" Again, I stop Turner from speaking as I put up a hand. The girl's heart was slowing.
"Colby." He opens his eyes, and I notice that the black had barely lightened. "Colby, stop." I reach out and touch Colby's hand that was holding the girl. He growls, holding the girl tighter. "Colby, you are going to kill her. Let her go." Again, he growls, testing me. "Let her go." I demand. I put as much authority into my voice as possible.
Colby stares, trying to get me to back down, but I refuse. Then he obeys me, letting her go. Turner takes her out.
