Mine

Part 17

Nobody said a word. Then about eight other vampires turned and left the room. I nod. "Salina, go back to him." She turns and runs out. "Turner, go get the body." He leaves. I take a match from another vampire and toss James's head to the floor. Turner appears next to me and drops the matching body. I light the match and drop it over James, watching as his body erupts into flames.
Turner looks up at me. "What do you want us to do, leader?"
I look up. Every face was on mine. "Micheal will want to come back and finish me off. To take this clan. We must prepare for the worst." I say. "Pack up on blood. Keep your strength up. Defend this clan." Everyone nods and disperses, talking loudly. Then I think of something and grab Turner. "I need to speak with Salina. I want you to go find her. When she leaves, stay there. Do not leave Colby alone, and do not hurt him in any way. I will know if you do." Turner nods.
I walk to James's room, and sigh, looking around. Then I strip the place of everything of his. I throw it out and move everything of mine to the master bedroom that was now mine. I had just closed the closet holding my clothes when the door opens. I turn. "Salina." I greet her.
She looks around. "I see you already moved in."
"Yeah."
"Are you sure you want to leave Turner with Colby?" She asks.
I nod. "I will know if he does anything to Colby."
"What'd you need to talk about?"
"One, I need that book. From the Regime? I want to read it." I say. "Two, I wanted to get your opinion on something."
"Yeah?"
"Now that I'm leader, every time I leave to see him, the clan is more unprotected. Would it be wise to have him over with all the vampires?"
Salina frowns. "The clan knows about Colby being your One." I roll my eyes. "The proof is there, Penny. But I'd think it would be more wise to bring it up to him and see what he thinks. I definitely agree that it would be dangerous to keep seeing him. Not just for the clan's safety, but for his too. Micheal would want to go after Colby."
I sigh. "True."
"But you take in the fact that some vampires here have their One's come over? I think Colby would be a lot more safer here."
"Is he awake?"
"Yeah. Turns out he didn't need much sleep after all."
"He's probably very confused as to why Turner's there." I sigh, rubbing my eyes. "I'll go there now."
Salina nods. "I'll take of things here."
I give her a small smile, then run out, using my vampire speed to get across town to Colby's apartment in less than a few minutes. I stop in the living room, and almost start laughing at the expression of Colby's very awake face. Turner was standing on the other side of the room, where I was, Colby sitting on the couch, looking very confused and a little scared.
I nod to Turner. "Thank you. And you should probably feed."
"Leader." He nods.
"I'm sorry I was gone." I apologize to Colby, sitting down next to him. "Things came up."
"He called you leader." Colby points out. I purse my lips. "What happened?"
I sigh. "Another vampire was trying to take control of the clan. Long story short, my leader is dead."
"So you're leader?"
"Yes."
"And what about the other vampire?"
"He got away." I growl. "Which brings me to another problem." I turn to Colby. "Micheal wants leadership of my clan. And he knows that, according to Salina, you're my One. Which puts you in danger." I take a breath, wondering what his reaction would be. "Salina and I think you'd be safer at my place."
"But what about Sam? Or Jake or Kat or Corey or all of them? I can't leave them." He replies.
I frown, trying to think of a quick solution. Then I think of it. Usually when I had free time or was alone, I was watching Colby's YouTube videos and the duo channel, Sam and Colby, and the Trap House videos. I grin. "Are your fans ready for Trap House 2.0?"
