Part 26

Salina suddenly hisses, opening her mouth and showing her fangs. They were gleaming white, long and sharp. Everyone jumps at her loud hiss, but they all lean in for a closer look.
"Might not look like much, but they're so sharp, they can cut through rhino hide like it's butter." I inform them.
"Damn." Jake says, leaning back. "You let those sink into you, Colby?"
"I don't feel it." He says.
Kat looks over, frowning. "What do you mean you don't feel it?" She nods her head at Salina. "Those look like you would definitely feel it."
"He doesn't feel it because of vampire venom."
"Vampire venom?"
"Yes." I say. "See, when a vampire bites, the victim's blood is then plagued with venom. That's one of the two ways a human can become a vampire. But when a vampire feeds, they bite, giving the victim venom, but the vampire then takes that venom back, along with blood. The victim gets a kind of 'high' because of it. It's how Colby doesn't feel my fangs. He's high when I feed from him."
"That's trippy." Corey laughs.
"He certainly feels me bite, but after that, he's on cloud nine." Colby blushes at my words while the others laugh.
"I don't believe this." Jake says.
"Do you want to be fed from?" Salina asks.
Jake opens his mouth to reply, but I cut him off. "You know the rules, Salina." I say, my voice low and commanding. She nods.
"You said that biting is one way to change a human." Sam asks. "What's the other way?"
I pause, staring at him, before I answer. "It's quite gross." I say. "For a human."
"How?"
"If a human wants to change, they'd have to seduce a vampire. The reason is because a vampire's emotions are much more heightened than a human. So when we're seduced, our emotions make it so we don't really notice anything around us. Now, when that happens, the human would have to drink our blood." I pause, almost laughing at Corey's disgusted expression. "But they don't change if they only do that."
"They have to do something else?"
I nod. "They have to die within twenty four hours to become a vampire after drinking a vampire's blood."
"Colby, please tell me you don't want to be a vampire." Sam say, breaking the silence that followed.
Colby looks up. "I never even thought of it."
"You don't want to, do you?"
Colby bites his lip, and I frown. "I'm not changing you." I tell him.
He looks at me. "Like I said, I hadn't thought of it."
"Good." I look at the others. "That's one subject out of the way." I say. "There's something else you guys should know."
"It can't be worse than you guys being vampire, right?" Devyn asks, then she stops herself. "I mean, it's not bad, I didn't mean it like that, I just-"
I hold up a hand, stopping her rambling words. "It's fine." I tell her, smiling sweetly. "But, it is worse."
"Colby is in danger." Salina says.
"How? From what?" Kat asks.
"Another vampire from-who was from my clan." I say. "He wants my leadership position, and I'm afraid he'll go after Colby to weaken me."
"So Sam and I talked and we're thinking of doing a Trap House 2.0." Colby says.
Corey leans forward, his eyebrows high as he looks around. "You're kidding. I thought that was a joke."
"It was. But now we think we should do it. Mostly to keep Colby safe, but also because our fans want it." Sam says.
"Yeah. And we've been going around looking at some places with Salina and Penny, and we think we found a place." Colby tells everyone.
"It's huge, guys." Sam says. "Like, it's got to be at least twice as big as the last Trap House. Three stories, a huge pool, a garden with pathways. It'll be more than big enough to have all of us, and Brennen and maybe even Penelope's clan living there. And her clan has about ten. It's huge."
"I'd have to see it." Tara says.
"My clan is will not be living with you guys." I say.
"True." Salina says. "Some of them can be pretty feral if they don't eat."
I nod. "If you guys want to, I can talk to the seller into letting us see it tomorrow."
"Hell yeah, I want to see this place." Corey says. "But how can you make it so we can see it tomorrow?"
"We can be pretty convincing."
"Don't ask how." Colby says, shaking his head. Salina giggles.
"Alright, deal. Let's see this place." Jake says. Everyone nods.
