Sam and Kat get up, wish us good night and leave to their room. Penny turns to me when I don't move.
"You should be going to sleep." She tells me.
I look up. "And you should feed." I reply. "Besides, I'll sleep better when I know you're not hungry."
She pauses, then sits besides me. "I'm always hungry."
"It'll be better if you feed."
She sighs. "Fine. Come here." I move closer to her, and tilt my head to the side, giving her access to my neck. I feel her cool breath on my skin before she bites. I feel her fangs, then slight tugging, and my body immediately relaxes as she feeds from me. My stress melts away and all I feel is something more than words. The closest I could think of is ecstasy, but even that wasn't close. It was more than ecstasy. All too soon though, Penny pulls away, heals the bite and stands up. Smiling in amusement at my seemingly drunken expression, she pulls me up and helps me upstairs and into my room, laying me down before she quickly kisses me and disappears. It wasn't long until I fell into a deep slumber.
The next morning, I woke up to a headache. I groaned and rolled over onto my stomach, grabbing my phone from m nightstand. I frown. I didn't remember even bringing my phone upstairs last night. I shake my head and turn it on, squinting at my screen. It was almost nine in the morning.
I sigh and throw the blanket off me, walking out of my room with only sweats on. I walk into the bathroom down the hall and the first thing I notice when I glance at the mirror, is how pale I am. I look closer at my reflection and lean in, tilting my head to the side. The skin of neck was unmarked. There was nothing there; not even a scar.
Then I chuckle and shake my head. I had forgotten that Penny can heal. I clean myself up before making my way downstairs, into the kitchen. Sam and Corey look up as I walk in.
"Damn, what happened to you, brother?" Corey asks.
"You look kind of sick." Sam notices.
I shake my head. "I feel fine."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. Penny was just hungry."
Sam and Corey frown. "She fed from you?" Corey asks.
"Don't start." I mutter, rubbing my eyes.
"Wasn't going to." Corey replies, putting his hands up. "I'm just... a little confused. Because there's nothing there."
"Yeah, there's no bite." Sam agrees.
I drop into a chair. "She can heal. It's how she stops the bleeding."
"I'm sorry, what? She can heal?" Corey asks.
"Yeah. From what she's told me, vampire saliva can heal. It's what we humans took from vampires before we burned them in the fourteen hundreds." I explain.
"Damn." Corey replies, looking at Sam, who glanced from Corey to me. Then Corey laughs. "Imagine what the fans would think if they knew about you and Penelope."
"I think it would be hard for them to hate her, but at the same time, they would think she's very odd." I reply. "She doesn't exactly act like the 'norm' of today's society. She's more old time."
"Very true." Sam nods.
"Where's Kat? And Devyn?" I ask.
"Still asleep." Corey answers. Sam nods. "When's Penelope coming over again?"
I raise an eyebrow. "Eager, huh?"
"When have we ever been friends with a freaking vampire?" He asks, throwing his hands up. "She's cool. You could, like, say the weirdest thing and she's be like, 'Okay'. She's chill with everything."
"Yeah, I'm kind of glad that you met her, Colby." Sam says. "Because of that," He points to Corey. "But also because of you."
I chuckle and shake my head. "What can I say? She's amazing."
"True that." Corey says, leaning forward and resting his hands on the table. Then I hear footsteps behind me and I look around and see Devyn.
"Morning, baby." Corey greets her, moving to hug her, then he plants a kiss on her head. I look away, suddenly wishing I could do that with Penny.
"Are you alright, Colby?" Devyn asks, pulling me out of my thought. I look up at her. "You look a little sick."
"Penelope fed from him last night." Sam says.
Devyn nods. "I'm guessing she left too?"
"Yeah." I say.
"I like her." Devyn says, sitting down in the chair beside me. "She seems like a really nice person behind that wall of hers."
I smile, thinking of when Salina had told me that Penny was actually a really bubbly person once you got to know her, before she was tackled by Penny. "She's a really happy person once you get to know her."
"Oh, I know." Devyn tells me. I glance at her. "She'll warm up to us all, with all our immaturity, eventually. Hell, I'm sure you boys might turn her as immature as you."
Sam, Corey and I all laugh.
