Chapter 40

Jo pov

I pick up toy after toy and fold clothes after clothes. Today has been such a cleaning day and I'm exhausted.

Elle hasn't made it any easier for me because she's been throwing tantrums all day.

Hero is out with Felix right now so that's not much help.

I'm slowly starting to become overwhelmed, especially with my pregnancy.

My belly is huge, I was not expecting my belly to be this big at four months. I don't understand why. I should probably talk with my doctor.

I'm four months and it's only going to get harder from here.

Hero walks through the front door as I'm cutting vegetables up for dinner.

Elle is in her height chair whining and crying because I won't let her have anymore cookies until after dinner.

Hero wraps her in his arms and comforts her.

"What's wrong princess" he says to her and I sigh

"Mommy is a meany" she says

He's always the good cop and I'm always the bad one.

"Mommy is not mean. You just don't want to listen to mommy" I say and she whines even more

"Let's go play with your toys in the living room while I talk with mommy" Hero says to Elle and takes her to the living room

"Hey whats going on" he says holding my waist and looking down at me with concerned eyes.

"Nothing is wrong. I'm just exhausted. Elle has been such a handful today" I say annoyed and he holds my hands, so I can stop cutting.

I roll my eyes and turn to him.

"Is everything okay" he asks

"I just had a long day" I say and he holds his hands gently on my face

"Go change, we're going out" he says

"I'm in the middle of cooking dinner" I say and he turns off the stove and throws what was in the pot in the trash.

"Hero" I say in shock

"Now go get changed" he says

I head to our room and look for something decent to wear. Nothing really fits me at the moment.

I decide on yoga pants and a comfy sweatshirt. I put my hair into a bun and secure the fly always with a head band.

I slip on some sandals and I'm done. I have my glasses on so I decide to stay in them.

I look at myself in the mirror and Hero walks in.

"This is the best I could do. Where are we going. Do I need to change again" I ask him

"What you're wearing is perfect" he says

"And I'm sorry I wasn't here to help today, I'm sorry your day was exhausting but I hope this surprise will make up for it" he says holding my waist and putting a hand to my face

"Sorry I've been so cranky and so terrible with Elle. It's just she needs to stop with the tantrums. I'm just trying to do what's best for her, like not eat a box of cookies before dinner" I say and he chuckles

"She's only three, she'll get there. You're not going anything wrong" he says and I just sigh and hug him.

He moves his hands to my belly and kisses my head.

"You're belly is so big" he says and I giggle

"I don't know why" I say and he pecks my lips.

"Now let's go" he says
