CHAPTER 9

NAGISING nalang si Cheese sa loob ng hospital na hindi niya alam. Inasikaso siya ng mabuti at inalagaan. Nagtataka siya. Paano siya napunta rito?

“Ilang araw akong walang malay?”, tanong niya sa isang nurse na tumutulong sakaniyang alisin ang dextrose.

“Limang araw po.”

She asked for more information and found out that someone called for an ambulance for her. Natagpuan daw siyang sugatan sa kaniyang kotse at may fracture sakaniyang likod.  She asked about who’s family member took care of her and the nursed said it was her husband.

Pagkalabas niya sakaniyang ward ay pumunta siya sa counter upang magtanong kung ilan ang babayaran niya ngunit nagulat na naman siya sa sagot ng mga ito.

“Nabayaran na po ng asawa niyo ang hospital bills. Iyong kotse niyo rin po ay pinaayos niya.”

She was so confused but she didn’t ask for more not to make a serious issue.

And it was true, hindi pinaayos ang kotse niya but it was brand f*cking new. Napahawak na lang siya sakaniyang ulo dahil sa sumasakit na ito sa kakaisip kung sino itong ‘asawa’ niya.

If she is right, this ‘husband’ might be the owner of that drones? Bakit niya binombahan ang gusali ni Alivros? At bakit siya sinusundan nito?

She drove back to her home thinking about it. Napakarami na siyang iniisip. Ang isa ay si Choco na hindi niya alam kung ligtas ito. Si Alivros kung okay na ba ito. At itong ‘asawa’ niya na hindi niya kilala.

As soon as she went home and opened the door, her eyes went wide, seeing her parents sitting in the living room na para bang naghihintay sakaniya.

“Bakit ka pumunta ron at muntik ka ng mabombahan, Klygy?”, agad na sermon ng kaniyang ina.

“Why are you associated with gangsters?”, dadgdag pa ng kaniyang ama.

Hindi siya nagsalita. She was actually shocked to hear them talk after a month. Ngayon lang niya narinig muli ang kanilang boses at ngayon lang din sila nakipag-usap sakaniya. This is weird. Sanay siya sa walang pansinan.

“Just playing around, mom and dad.”, she smiled and started to walk upstairs.

“Klygy!”, her mother warned her because of that silly answer but she didn’t even turned her head to look at them.

Pumasok siya sakaniyang kwarto at nagpatugtog ng musika bago ibagsak ang sarili sakaniyang kama.

Then I cross the bridge for oever million trouble to meet

Napabuntong hininga siya nang maalala ang sinabi sakaniya ng doctor.

“This is a serious injury, Ms. Quenborough. It will take many months to recover your spinal chord. Moreover, you should refrain yourself from lifting heavy things, avoid bumping into anything and you must sit properly as you could.”

With that statement, there is only one thing that concludes there.

She cannot be the center. She must not fight in the 10th competition and it means, she couldn’t protect Choco from the first place.

ISANG linggo na ang lumipas at pinagdesisyunan na niyang magtrabaho. It was an online application and she was lucky to be hired right away. And it means, she will move to another place to work.
