T H E N I G H T

CHAPTER 35

King frowned as he heard something buzzing on his ear. Half asleep, he moved sideways only to wake up from falling. He groaned and opened his eyes to see where he is. So then, he just realized that he fell asleep in the couch. He got up only to see KBum sleeping in the opposite couch, enjoying the air blown by an electric fan.

Nakunot ang kaniyang noo dahil sa pagiging makasarili nito na siya lang ang nag-eelctric fan. Inaantok siyang lumapit sa electric fan at may pinindot upang umikot ito. Tumingin muna ito sa paligid at sa pinto ng kwarto ni Klygy bago bumalik sakaniyang kinahihigaan. Tiningnan muna niya ang oras sakaniyang phone at nakitang tatlong oras pa lang ang lumipas. He fixed his blanket and dropped his head to his pillow. He took the other pillow and hugged it comfortably before closing his eyes to sleep again.

Nagising nalang si Klygy nang nakakaramdamn ng pagkauhaw. Minulat niya ang kaniyang mga mata at dahan dahang bumangon. Tumingin muna siya sa paligid at naalalang nasa bahay niya dapat si King.

Nakita niya ang hindi pamilyar na wallet sakaniyang lamesa at napagtantong kay King iyon. Napansin na naman niya ang kaniyang boots na magkatabing nakatayo sa sulok at may dalawang unan ang nawala sakaniyang higaan.

Umalis siya sakaniyang kama upang hanapin kung saan naman ito natulog. Imposible naman kung hahayaan ni KBum na matulog ito sa kwarto ni Nima. At mas lalong imposible kung natulog ito sa couch o natulog sa sahig. Baka nasa hotel na ito at payapang natutulog-

Natigilan siya sa nakita pagkalabas niya sa kaniyang kwarto. There are two men sleeping at the two opposite couch, both wearing pajamas and are using the electric fan to lessen mosquitoes? Si King ay nakayakap sa isang unan at si KBum naman ay parang patay na nakahiga. Pareho pang hindi gumamit ng kumot.

Hindi niya alam kung matatawa o matutuwa siya sa nakikita. Hindi niya inakalang kakayaning matulog ng dalawang ito sa couch na hindi kasya ang kanilang tangkad. How did they do that? Kahit siya ay hindi niya kayang matulog sa ganyan kaliit na higaan at electric fan lang ang sumusuporta sa mainit na panahon. And it is even weirder that they are wearing pajamas in their sleep? Samantalang siya ay hindi makakatulog nang may bra at hindi naka short shorts. It is just an exemption today na hindi niya naisip magbihis dahil sa pagod siya.

Bumaba na siya at pumuntang kusina para uminom. Tumingin siya ulit sa living room habang paakyat na nang hagdanan. Tinitigan niya si King.

Bakit kaya ito hindi nalang tumabi sakaniya?

Agad siyang umiling dahil sa kaniyang naisip at nagpatuloy na sa pag-akyat, pumasok sa kwarto at sinara ang pinto. She breathed in and out, feeling a bit uneasy to what she had thought earlier.

She started removing her accessories, unhooked her bra and took it off. Nilagay niya ito sa isang empty drawer. She then loosened her belt and pulled down her jeans. She then looked for an empty hanger, hanged it, and opened her empty cabinet, only to see King’s garments there.

She froze. Naligo ito sa loob ng kwarto niya at hindi man lang siya nagising?

She shook her head and just hanged her thing. She then looked for a loose shorts because it is not the right time to prefer short shorts specially that she will be living with King for a month. She wore a light blue summer shorts before coming to her bed.

Ibinagsak niya ang kaniyang katawan sa kama at hinigit ang isang unan upang yakapin. She closed her eyes and tried blanking her mind. But then seconds later, she is thinking about how could someone as rich as him would actually sleep in that little space with all the mosquitoes?

She groaned and rolled over to see the ceiling, unable to sleep.

Hindi kaya yon magrereklamo pagsapit nang umaga dahil sa puno na ito ng mga kagat nang lamok?

She rolled over again and just erased anything in her mind. She closed her eyes and tried sleeping again. After long tries, she just heard someone knocking on her door. She groaned and looked over the door, covering her upper body with the pillow. Nakunot ang kaniyang noo nang makita si King na pumasok habang kinakati ang kaniyang leeg.

Lumakad ito sa paanan ng kaniyang kama at ibinuka ang kumot sa sahig, nilapag ang dalawang unan na dala nito at doon humiga. Gulat siyang napabangon para tingnan ito. He is fast asleep not to notice her. Closing his eyes, he hugged the other pillow with his arms and legs.

Hindi siya nakapagsalita. Hindi na ba nito nakayanan ang mga lamok sa living room? Paano naman si KBum?

She supposed to call his name but she chose not to. Kailangan rin naman nitong matulog lalo na’t magtatrabaho pa ito bukas. At buti nalang din na nasa kwarto na siya at hindi na makakagat ng mga lamok sa labas. She sighed and laid back on the bed. She put on the blanket and closed her eyes.

Now that she wouldn’t worry about him being bitten by mosquitoes, she needs not to think anymore. She closed her eyes and later, she fell asleep.

The next morning, she got awaken by the ray of sunlight on her face and she opened her eyes. She squeezed her finger on her eyes and looked at her clock in the right wall.

It’s 7:03 AM. She got up from bed and immediately widened her eyes to see King only with bath towel on his lower body.

Agad niyang nahila ang kaniyang kumot para hindi ito makita at malakas na napamura.

“Damn it, sir! Why would you fuckin’ wear that inside my room?!” agad niyang reklamo, ramdam ang pag-iinit ng kaniyang mukha.

Tumawa si King at sinuot ang kaniyang pantalon.

“You should be open for our new normal, babe. We’re getting married soon, you’ll see me with not even a piece” he teased but is telling the truth. He just wanted to make her comfortable with anything specially that they will be living in one roof for a month and will be engaged sooner.

“Pervert!” Klygy hissed.
“Yeah” he replied nonchalantly, starting to wear his polo.

Klygy didn’t speak and remained covered under the blanket. She doesn’t have an idea why is she doing this. She is shy, she knows it. It is just… it’s awkward for her to see him in that state and she was thinking what might happen in the following days that she will be living with this man.

Sharing the same bathroom and the same room… it’s like a nightmare she doesn’t want to come true but it is really happening. She will see him wet until dry, naked until dressed, hungry until full, and everything.

She never thought that it could be this uneasy to live with him and to have a single man living with her. She bit her lips.

This will be hell.
