Normal.

What did that word even mean anymore? I felt myself go through the motions, no longer feeling anything but an empty feeling in my chest. An emptier feeling in my stomach where my pup once rested. Everyone else seemed to move on while mine was at an absolute stand still. Ever since Alexandre got home from Italy, he buried himself in work, coming home late in the evening, leaving me alone for most of the day.

I knew he was only trying to catch up from the work that had built up the several weeks he had missed. Raven and Ella visited often, trying to cheer me up, trying to get me back to my witty comebacks and my strong personality. I would just sit there, letting the time pass with them there. I barely talked to them anymore. I seemed uninterested in anything they talked about.

I began to build walls around myself, trying to protect myself from hurting again. I often stayed in bed for a big portion of the day, not wanting to move on with my life. Food no longer had taste, everything was bland. One thing Alexandre made sure I kept up with was eating. Despite how lackluster the food tasted, he made sure I ate my entire plate for breakfast, Alexandre made sure someone was here with me when it came to lunch and sometimes dinner.

We barely spoke to one another, well, Alexandre tried, but I didn't respond too often. I no longer felt worthy of the Luna title, I no longer felt worthy of even being Alexandre's mate. I was such a terrible Luna, I now have missed three full moon ceremonies. Raven and Ella had helped take over the roll temporarily, making sure the things I'm supposed to normally do got done. No one ever made a fuss, no one complained. But I knew slowly but surely everyone's patience would wear thin and they would become angry with me.

"August," I heard someone call my name. I blinked, turning my head to the bedroom door. "August." Someone knocked on the door, it was Raven. He pushed the door open and poked his head into the room.

"C'mon August, let's get you up." He turned the shower on in the bathroom. "What do you want to eat for lunch?" Raven pulled the covers off of me, I hadn't protested like I used to. I knew he was right. It was almost two in the afternoon. I had only eaten a bowl of oatmeal with Alexandre this morning. My stomach was growling in hunger. I shrugged at his question once I sat up.

"August." Raven put his hand on my shoulder. I hadn't even realized he had moved from the end of the bed. I jumped in surprise. "It's been months babe, we need to heal okay? Why don't we do something for you to put your mind at rest? Hm?" He rubbed my shoulder, looking me in the eyes.

I averted my eyes looking elsewhere. Raven grabbed my chin making me face him again. "I'm serious August." He said with a firmness in his voice. "I'm not trying to be mean, but I honestly hate seeing you like this, we all hate seeing you like this. You're not like this. You're my smart ass, sassy, shit head friend who's got a lot of spark and a lot of sweetness to him. I miss you."

I honestly missed me too.

I didn't even know where to begin. I had shut everything and everyone off for so long. I hardly remember my 'normal.'

"How about we make a memorial for the baby, somewhere where you can visit?" Raven asked, letting go of my face.

I nodded my head, liking the idea of having somewhere to visit my unborn child. "Yeah." I responded, my voice came out cracked and dry. It was the first time I've talked in days to anyone.

"Maybe we can plant a tree? Right outside the pack house entrance?" He asked me. "I'm sure we could get a little bench for you to sit. C'mon get up and shower. I'll make us lunch and then we can go into town to the plant nursery and pick out a tree." He patted my shoulder motioning for me to get up.
