Pink helps me to see things on a positive note. They say it is a symbol of hope that inspires billions of people across the globe. That particular color had never been the apple of my eye but when I was fooled by this thing called love, it changed drastically.
"Nadia, want some?" Emman offered me a cup of coffee. Palihim akong ngumiti.
"Thanks for this."
"No problem." He waved his hand before going back to his cubicle.
See? How could I resist that kind of guy?
"Emman! Help me with this please?" Napawi ang ngiti ko nang lumapit sa kaniya si Ericka.
"Sure thing, love."
Oo nga pala, ganiyan si Emman sa lahat. Mabait siya sa lahat kaya ginugusto rin siya ng mga ito. It's not his intention to give me false hopes. Ako itong ilusyonada.
Bakit ko ba naisip na mamahalin niya ako pabalik? Matatapatan ba ang ilang buwan naming pinagsamahan dito sa trabaho sa apat na taong relasyon nila ni Ericka?
Oo. Ako si Nadia Ferrer— ang dakilang sekretarya na natatanga sa pag-ibig.
I was taken aback when the CEO of the Peninsula Hotel suddenly sauntered the vicinity.
"Good day, sir!" Tinanguan niya lang ako bago tuluyang pumasok sa opisina. I sighed in relief.
Chase Saavedra is the CEO of the Peninsula hotel and unfortunately, I am his secretary. Because of his imposing power and authority, I was always been afraid of him. He's just too intense for me. Nasusupladuhan ako minsan pero hindi ko maipagkakailang maganda ang lahi niya.
"Ms. Ferrer?"
Nagulat ako nang dumungaw bigla si Sir Chase mula sa pinto.
"Come in for a sec."
I calmed my nerves before entering his office. He was leaning on his desk with arms crossed while eyeing me darkly.
"A-Ano po iyon, sir?"
"Who did this document that you send me earlier?"
Nangangapa ako bigla ng mga salita. Patay!
"It was from Emman, sir. Is there something to fix? I'll just let him revize it."
Naku, may pagka-perpeksyonista pa naman itong boss ko. I was shocked when he shook his head.
"No need. I fired him."
"What?!"
If he fired Emman just because of that, then I am part of the blame too. I should have let him double check it!
"But sir, I am also at fault. Hindi naman siguro reasonable—"
He raised his eyebrow. "Why? Am I not reasonable enough, Nadia?"
In this building, Chase is above the law.
"Did you fire him because of my incompetence, sir?"
"No. I just don't want to compete someone over a woman that I like."
Sino naman kaya itong nagugustuhan ni sir Chase?
"Mahal mo pa ba siya?"
Kumabog ang dibdib ko dahil sa tanong niya. How did he know about that?! Hindi ko na alam kung ano ang isasagot ko kaya umiling na lang ako.
"Good. If that's the case, then can I date you now?"
Don't tell me that I am the woman that he was pertaining about?
"You know it is against the company's policy," I reminded him but he just looked at me with a dismissive manner.
"You also knew that I am above the law. What Chase wants, Chase gets."
Sometimes, the impossible becomes possible. Never in my wildest dreams that I would date the CEO. Akala ko nangyayari lang iyon sa mga pelikula. What did he like about me on the first place?
"Is something bothering you?"
Tinapunan ako ng tingin ni Chase habang nagmamaneho siya sa kaniyang Range Rover. This is one of our date escapades. Everyone knew about our set up and as expected, they forbade it.
"Naku, wala po."
He sighed. "I told you, don't treat me like I am your boss. I'm courting you now."
I bit my lower lip to suppress a giddy smile. Ang guwapo talaga ni Chase. Hindi ko na rin namalayan na unti-unti ko ng nalilimutan si Emman. Chase is the heavens up above while I am just a mere commoner living on the ground. He made the craziest things just to make the two opposites meet.
We stayed resilient in the face of adversity. I clung unto the hope to find love again.
"Philip expresses his love through love letters while I chase after the woman I like," he blurted out. "I like you because you are you. That's it. Stop spacing out."
See? How could I reject this guy?
Eventually, I fell in love. Deeply. Passionately. Uncontrollably. Without limits.
"I'm in love with you, Chase."
Napaawang ang bibig niya at kaagad akong niyakap ng mahigpit.
"I love you too, Nadia."
Dumating din ang araw na napagdesisyunan naming magbakasyon sa isang beach resort.
I was wearing a yellow swimsuit since I'm done with pink. I'm done hoping because Chase is already in my life. I strongly believe that this kind of love prevails through the storm.
Pinaniwalaan ko iyon. Damang-dama ko.
"Nadia..." He looked tensed.
"May problema ba, Chase?"
"No, Nadia. I just want to say that I love you so much. Kahit ano ang mangyari," he pressed his lips towards mine.
I smiled. "Alam ko."
"Kahit ano ang mangyari, huwag mo akong iwan. Understood?"
I still nodded just to ease his bottled up tension even if it weirds me out.
"M-May pupuntahan lang ako sa hotel saglit," paalam niya bago umalis.
I was sitting on the sand while enjoying the sun's heat. Suddenly, a lost little boy was crying in front of me.
"Daddy! Daddy!"
"Hello, baby boy. Where's your daddy?"
Nagpatuloy pa rin siya sa pag-iyak. "I want to see daddy," malungkot niyang saad.
"Stop crying," pinunasan ko ang mukha niya.
Napatigil ako. Wait, he resembled someone I know.
The boy looks exactly like Philip Saavedra! What will happen to Antoinette?
"Chandler!"
"Mommy!"
Biglang hinawi ng isang sopistikadang babae ang pagkahawak ko sa bata.
"Pupuntahan natin ang Daddy Chase mo sa hotel, okay?" The woman said while giving daggers at me.
