The pair arrived at the rendezvous point sore and irritated from the long drive. The two had slept through most of it, but it didn't help much to prevent stiff muscles and limbs.

"Thank fuck we're here," the male grumbled getting out of the car.

Mariko nodded and pressed a button, causing the car to disappear from their sight. It didn't make much o a difference because of how dark it was though. After checking in with Araya at the rendezvous point, they were sent to the middle of a forest a half-mile away from Shimizu's base- just outside her border patrol limit. It was almost two in the morning now, but she didn't feel tired at all. Adrenaline was rushing through her system at the idea of an oncoming fight, and Mariko had to will herself to remain as still as possible.

For a moment, Dabi said nothing, he just stared at the empty space where the car used to be wondering where it went.

"It's still there," she told him. "It's just invisible. We can't have Shimizu knowing we're here," she informed him.

Mariko fiddled with her coms unit, yes they were cut off from the rest of the team, but she was still supposed to be able to talk to Dabi.

"Are your coms working?" she asked.

He tapped his earpiece a couple of times and nodded. "What time are we supposed to be heading into this shithole?"

She glanced down at her watch. They were scheduled to leave at 2 a.m on the dot, it was 1:59. "Should be now," she told him.

The moment her digital watch changed to 2:00, the world around her faded to black and Mariko felt herself get pulled from the ground. Her stomach dropped suddenly, and she felt like she was falling. Not even a moment later, light was flooding her vision once again and she barely had time to register Dabi's presence next to her before spotting several villains. She cursed silently- Kurogiri had dropped them off in the very center of the research facility, the room with the most villains.

All hell broke loose, and it wasn't even three seconds before sirens went off and people started attacking them.

Pulling out her guns, Mariko wasted no time in shooting everyone in sight. She activated her quirk so that the cells of anyone who touched her would simultaneously combust. They turned to dust the minute their skin made contact. "Mineko will be closest to her experiments, we've gotta get to the lower levels," she thought.

"The staircase!" She shouted to Dabi.

The ravenette glanced at the door labeled Service Staircase and nodded at her. Together they fought off as many agents as they could, leaving nothing but ashes and dust in their wake.

"How many floors in this section?" Dabi asked as they inched towards the door. They were moving too slowly. The villains they were facing weren't particularly difficult to deal with, but there were just so many. Both Dabi and Mariko were finding it difficult to keep up with the number of people- their quirks were reaching their limit.

"Three- she's gonna be on the last one."

"How the hell do you know?"

"That's where she was last time," she said, bursting through the service door.

Dabi quickly barricaded it by melting the doorframe and door together so that it wouldn't be opened so easily.

It didn't matter much though, Mariko was already aware of the twenty people running up the stairs to get to them, she heard and felt their footsteps. "They're probably scientists going to evacuate.. but that doesn't mean they won't fight us if they think they have to."
