"How many flags does Philippines have?" Ms. Fuhla asked me. 30 minutes na kaming ganito. Atat na akong pumatak 1:30 para uwian na.
"Nine. It has been common since the 1960s to trace the development of the Philippine flag to the various war standards of the individual leaders of the , a pseudo- revolutionary movement that opposed Spanish rule in the Philippines and led the . However, while some symbols common to the Katipunan flags would be adopted into the iconography of the Revolution, it is inconclusive whether these war standards can be considered precursors to the present Philippine flag.
The first flag of the Katipunan was a red rectangular flag with a horizontal alignment of three white Ks (an acronym for the Katipunan's full name, Kataas-taasang Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan – Supreme and Venerable Society of the Sons of the Nation). The flag's red field symbolized blood, as members of the Katipunan signed their membership papers in their own blood.
The various leaders of the Katipunan, such as , , and , also had individual war standards. The organization was represented in province by two factions: the Magdiwang faction and the Magdalo faction, with each adopting a flag. Both used a white sun. Instead of the letter K the flags bore the symbol for the syllable ka in , the pre-Hispanic writing script of the Filipinos.
The Katipunan adopted a new flag in 1897 during an assembly at , . This new flag was red and depicted a white sun with a face. The sun had eight rays, representing eight provinces of the Philippines." I answered. She was about to speak again but the bell rang.
Opps. Times up." Pabulong na sabi ko. Kinuha ko ang gamit ko at dali daling lumabas ng room. Habang naglalakad papauntang parking lot ay hinarang ako ng isang uhhhh nerd?
"Hi! You're CJ right?" Nakangiting saad nito. I nodded.
"I'm Mel Abranta. Classmate-slash-girl best friend of Kaiden." Sabi niya at iniunat ang kamay para makipag shakehands. Kahit naguguluhan ay tinanggap ko ito at nakipag shakehands sakaniya.
"He never mentioned you to me. Or any of you actually." I said.
"It's because you two aren't close and he hates you." She said. I can feel her gripping my hand tightly kaya binawi ko na ang kamay ko. I gave an awkward laugh.
"Uhm sige ah. Una na ako. May kailangan pa kasi akong gawin. Nice meeting you nga pala." I said at nagmamadaling naglakad palayo ng walang lingon lingon. Ewan ko pero parang may iba akong pakiramdam sakaniya. Hindi ko lang matukoy kung ano iyon.
Ipinagsa walang bahala ko nalang iyon at pumunta na sa kotse ko. Tiningnan ko ang paligid neto. Hindi ko pa din pala napapayos kaya ayun puro spray paint pa din. Pumasok ako sa kotse ko at isinara ang pinto. Pag lingon ko sa right side ko ay halos atakihin ang puso ko sa gulat.
"What the hell are you doing here? A-and how did you get in?!" Galit na tanong ko kay... teka nga sino toh?! . Paano toh nakapasok?!
"Did you know, that I, Klarenz Chua has a Master's degree in lockpicking?" nakangising saad nito. Ahh Klarenz. Isa siya sa mga classmates ko.
"And did you know that I, CJ Luhence, has a masters degree of punching someone that will make them fall asleep?!" Sarcastic na saad ko.
"Get out." I said. Tumawa siya.
"Oh, may nagpapabigay nga pala. Dapat siguro palagyan mo tong sasakyan mo ng 5 lock para hindi mabuksan." Sabi niya. Tiningnan ko naman ang sobreng hawak niya.
"Kanino daw galing?" Sabi ko at tinanggap ang sobre.
"Malay. Naka baseball cap eh. Ang weird niya nga eh. Tanong siya ng tanong about sa direction ng buong school." Sabi niya. Napalingon naman ako sakaniya.
"Sinabi mo naman?" Tanong ko. Tumango lang siya kaya napangiwi ako. Kala ko pa naman matino tong lalaking toh. Pero ang weird nga. Bakit niya ipagtatanong ang direction ng campus??
"Lumayas ka na dito at baka masapak na talaga kita." Naiinis na saad ko.
"Bye Jade!!" He said at bago ko pa siya mahabol ng hampas ay mabilis siyang nakalabas ng kotse.
Shuta tawagin daw ba ako sa second name ko.
Bago ako makaalis ng parking space ko ay may nakita akong lalaking nakatingin sa direksyon ko. Mukhang nakita yata ako nitong nakatitig sakaniya kaya mabilis itong tumakbo playao.
