Chapter 38

Strangers With Memories

After reading documents at my office and reviewing some contracts, I decided to rest my eyes after almost a whole day. My eyes starting to itch and feel dry, so I don't really have any choice unless I want to strain it and pop some veins on it. To mention my system couldn't take any information anymore from so much tiredness and reading.

I took off my glasses and laid my back at the swivel chair as I closed my eyes. I haven't gotten enough sleep for days now, so there is no question about feeling sleepy and tired, to begin with.

I was reviewing the contract and my proposal for the deal I want to close next week. It was a deal for manufacturing car parts of the new innovation of TATA.

It wasn't long when someone knocked on the door. I didn't bother to open my eyes when I said, "Come in." massaging my temple. Not to drift into the dreamland.

"Sir," I automatically opened my eyes when I heard One in front of me, "Here are some documents that need your signature, you can ring us once you signed them," he said, then put the folders on my table,

I just nodded at him. He looks good wearing a business suit. I've been seeing him in these clothes these past few days. It was required, so he didn't have a choice. He was wearing a black color today, his hair is styled naturally, letting some strands touch his forehead,

"Should I make your coffee, Sir?" he asked while looking straight into my eyes. For some reason, I saw evident concern in it, and his expression didn't hide it with so much softer features. His brows are curved downward, and his eyes look gentle and meek.

I know it is not right to feel my heart caressed warmly, but I couldn't help it. "Can I have-" I wasn't able to finish my words when "Babe, I got you some coffee an..." Somi was cut off from her words and halted from walking when he saw who was in front of me.

The room turned colder as we were all equally tense and uncomfortable as everything became more cumbersome in the situations. It was like being in the situation back then every time we met like this. And I hate it. Guilt rushed to me as I looked at Somi.

I know I'm doing my best to control my feelings for One, but it's something beyond my capabilities. We just can't control and dictate to ourselves what to feel even we could hide it.

She looked at me confused and One, but she didn't say anything,

"It's okay. I got my coffee now. You can go." I dismissed One. I couldn't help but stare at him to see his reaction. He's the one who told me to marry this girl in front of us. He was looking at Somi, solemnly, bleak, as crystal pooled in his eyes, but perhaps it was just the chandelier inside my office reflecting on his eyes.

He smiled then bowed to Somi to show respect before he left the room.

I attended to Somi, who's now looking at me flustered, and rushing worries in her eyes and an unconcealably hint of pain and fear she couldn't hide and cover her own. I know so well what's for.

I couldn't help but feel sorry and guilty. I might have been trying my best to suppress showing my love for him and do something that might would hurt her and the right thing, but the fact I still feel the same way for One, no matter how I try to hide it on my own, didn't make me sinless.

But that's all I could do for her aside from comforting her. I patted her hair softly and snaked her waist, "It's okay, you have nothing to worry about." I assured her. Because at the end of the day, I was still promised to her even I didn't do it myself. I still have to marry her wherever she likes and wants it, and I don't plan backing up unless she let me go herself.
