Part 23

Nat POV
I woke up on y/n's chest I let out a cry as I traced the bandage on their neck. 'Hey baby.' They pulled my hand away and sat up. 'It's okay sweetheart you didn't mean to.' I whined into their chest. 'Hey y/n I just need to check you can walk properly then your free to go.' Bruce stated as I clung on to y/n. They rubbed my back and gave me a kiss on the head. 'Can you let go this will only take a minute baby.' I shook my head and whined. Y/n placed me on the bed breaking me from their touch and I let out a cry. 'I know honey. Can you be a brave girl for me and I promise I will make it up to you.' I nodded but still couldn't help but give quiet whines.

Y/n POV
'Can you walk to the desk over there?' I hopped of the bed and walked over to the desk I stumbled once but Bruce caught me. 'Don't worry Wanda said it would feel weird walking for a while.' Bruce comforted I got the hang of it after a few minutes, my leg felt heavier than usual and it was harder to put pressure on it. When I did two laps of the lab Nat clapped. 'I have an idea, jarvis send Wanda in please.' Wanda came in a few seconds later. 'Hey, y/n you're standing!' She said excitedly she was even more surprised when I walked over to her and hugged her. 'Wanda I need you to be here in case you need to catch Nat with your powers.' Wanda looked confused but agreed. 'Y/n can you try walking around with Nat. Wanda won't let you fall.' He looked back at her and she nodded he returned the gesture showing they were both ready.

'You okay with this baby girl?' Nat smiled widely at the name and reached out for me. I carried her around the room stumbling for a second but I managed. Nat got a bit scared thinking we were going to fall and started to cry. 'I know, it's okay I've got you.' I cupped her cheek and she settled back into my neck. 'Do you want to go get a drink and some nummies?' Nat nodded and started suckling on my neck.

I grabbed Nat's pacifier and placed it in her mouth. 'Hey Yelena can you hold your sister for a minute?' I asked the blonde who was currently watching tv. She opened her arms without looking so I placed Nat in her arms. 'I'll be right back baby.'

'Hey y/n!' Steve said loudly causing me to jump and stumble. 'Hey you okay?' He said catching me I looked up at him with tears in my eyes. 'What's wrong?' I wrapped my arms around him and cried into his chest. 'You're lucky this shirt is old.' He joked making me laugh. 'I think that's the first funny joke you've told.' I teased making him chuckle. 'So, what's wrong? You can tell me I'm 100 years old I'll forget in five minutes.'

'I don't know if I can do this. Tony's a great big you know what, Nat's even smaller and dependent on me, my leg is weird and I can't walk without stumbling and I can't look enter her properly and it hurts.' I wanted so badly to give her the life she deserved but I couldn't help but question if this was it. 'Hey, Nat loves you, I know it's overwhelming right now but you can do this.' He grabbed me by the shoulders. 'Nat needs you and you need her. She's happier than I have ever seen her and if you take that away from my best friend I will fight you.' I smiled softly and nodded. 'Thanks Steve, you're a good big brother.'

'Um I think I broke her.' Yelena interrupted holding the teary little in her arms wrapped in a blanket. 'What happened?' I asked giving Nat a kiss and wiping her tears. 'Well she started shivering so I did this blanket swaddle thing Melina taught us, but then people walked in and she started pulling up at the part on the back of her neck.' I took off my hoodie and Nat smiled. 'Oh invisible thing I got y'a.' Yelena helped me put the hoodie on Nat and carried her back to the living room.

'See you knew what Nat needed straight away.' Steve pointed out and I shrugged. 'Maybe, I still need to make her breakfast though. 'Just throw some fruit in a bowl and it will be fine.' I got everything ready, microwaved some milk and chopped up some fruit which Steve carried. 'Natasha? Where are you?' Nat took off the hoodie so I lifted her onto my lap. 'Good girl.' I kissed her temple making her smile. 'Here comes the quinjet I say bringing an apple slice to her mouth which she happily accepted.

After a few bites she started getting restless. 'Okay time for a nap baby girl.' I smiled before taking her to her room and changing her, putting her in a light grey onesie. 'Come here baby.' I lifted her up placing her against my chest as I gave her a bottle.

'I love you Natasha.' I whispered before humming a lullaby to soothe her to sleep.
