" Stay exactly where you are." Jack told them.
" Jack no!" Kate rushed to them.
" What the hell is going on?" The lights flipped on and Kate's mom walked in.
She looked and Liliah and Clint obviously taken aback.
" And why are there two Avengers in my dining room?" She asked.

" Hi." Clint smiled.
" Lovely home you have here." Liliah added with a little smile of her own.
" Oh my god. You're- you're the Archer. And your the Captains daughter." Jack put down the sword.
" Hawkeye and Liliah Rogers." Kate corrected.
" Just Clint and Liliah." Clint corrected.
" It's a branding issue I'm telling you and Li needs a superhero name." Kate said.
" Yeah, sure." Clint nodded.
" Focus. In the moment." Liliah told them.

Jack chuckled at the banter between the three.
" Well come, come sit down." Jack lead them to the dining room.
" And please explain what's going on." Kate's mom added.
They sat at the table with Jack and Kate's mom on one side and Kate, Clint and Liliah on the other.
" Hawkeye, Liliah and I are working on a case and we needed to use the bathroom. He did. So, we were by the house we dropped in. No big deal." Kate explained.
" Terrible bladder this one. Like an elephant I'm telling ya." Liliah added to the lie.

" Working on a case together?" Kate's mom asked.
" How terrific." Jack smiled.
" We're a team." Kate told them.
" We're not a team." Clint shook his head.
" Well, we're friends-slash-team members." Kate said.
" I wouldn't really describe us as friends." Clint said.
" No, I would call you two twins." Liliah told them.

Kate's mom's phone rang.
" Someone used my laptop to sigh onto my work account ten minutes ago. Any thoughts Kate?" She read her message.
" Hawkeye?" Kate looked at him.
He just kept quiet.
" You'll never get anything out of him. See CB-One had trouble opening up, and Liliah well she's just a pro." Kate explained.

" Nobody calls me CB-One." Clint said.
" No we call you vent boy." Liliah chuckled.
" That was a long time ago." Clint protested.
" Yeah whatever you still basically lived in the vents at the tower. Focus at the matter at hand vent boy." Liliah teased.
" He thinks he doesn't tell me much but he does." Kate continued.
" I tell her nothing." Clint said.
" I think it's cause I'm generally pretty chill. I'm not like Oh my god Hawkeye! Same with Liliah." Kate told them.
" That's actually the first thing you said when we met but okay." Liliah said.

" Bu the way, thank you...for saving the world." Jack looked at Clint and Liliah.
" Don't mention it." Clint said.
" Yeah no biggie, just something we did on the weekend since we weren't busy." Liliah joked.
" I would like my daughter to start telling me the truth." Kate's mom said.
" I logged into your account because I needed information, on an actual case with actual people who are in actual danger." Kate told her the truth.

" So Kate's helping you two with an Avengers-level threat?" She asked.
" Well not exactly." Liliah said.
" But you are working together?" She asked.
" Yes. Sounds weird cause it is." Clint told her.
" Alright well I guess I'm just gonna have to trust everyone at this table to do what's right." Kate's mom said.
" We always try." Liliah chuckled nervously.
" Cool. It was great bumping into you guys" Kate stood.

" Stay please. Can I walk you two out?" Kate's mom asked.
" I'll get my coat. Jack." Clint nodded as him and Liliah stood from the table.
" Really nice house." Liliah told him again before walking away.
Once they got to the elevator Kate's mom started talking.

" Let me clarify." She started.
" Yeah." Clint said.
" She's not a superhero." She told them.
" Oh yeah, I already knew that. But she's pretty good at all of this-" Clint started.
" Natasha Romanoff was pretty damn good at it, wasn't she? Being good isn't always enough to keep you alive." She cut to the chase.
Liliah tensed up at the mention her godmother.
" I see." Clint said.
" Clint, do you have kids? I know Liliah has a little baby girl at home, saw it on the news. I'm going to assume you do to. It's been a rough week for my family. But I'm letting you know that I cannot lose Kate. I've lost people before. I know in your line of work, you guys have too." She explained.
