Propose III

They sit down together, watching the horizon for a while as Connie remembers something

Connie : Now that I think about it, it's funny how it all turned around for me

With Connie focusing on her studies and overall academic presents, he starts thinking to himslef at how ironic she turned out now. Opposite of what she was when he first met her...she was very much as book-smart as she is now but she was also a loner, often moving to different places and didn't had much time to make any friends.

Connie : It was hard for me to make friends at all until I met you.

Steven : I remember it like it was yesterday.

Connie : I sometimes wondered how it would've been if we didn't meet...

Steven : *weakly laughs* Hey now don't make me think of that.

Connie : I'm glad we did though. I wouldn't change that.

And for a second there Steven had a warm smile on his face

Things do indeed change that's true.

Steven didn't had many friends his age either even before he met Connie. He mainly had the gems and his dad around him before getting more people in his life.

His childhood self was like Connie too although with scientific interest gap between them. But overall they bonded and became good friends, even more than friends now.

Connie : And now look at me, look at you. We are moving forward to our dreams, facing whatever the future has in store for us.

The tables of life have turned on him here however... Now they aren't together as often as they were before, not that she doesn't want to but she simply didn't have much time for it due to the school system she's going through.

He's happy that his impact on her allowed her to her to spread her wings and so she is finally flying now but that led to her she not having much free time now, preparing for her future in collage and likely forming new realtionships with her to her friends who may get much better relations with her than he has.

Not to mention that discussing about the future isn't something Steven is comletely sure about. As he had nothing else to do, nowhere to go where anyone needs him, nowhere for him to be. Being busy and important for him was better than being free and purposeless.

Unintentionally, she reminded him of his current reality that Connie will soon be moving away for collage much to his

Little did Steven know that it doesn't change how she feels about him, she still loves him and he's a big part of her life

Little did Connie know however that Steven overthinking, may be having doubts and thinks she is slowly facing him out of her life

And then a thoguht of 'Maybe she can't be with me' popped in his mind

Steven instantly stood up, surprising Connie

Steven : Connie, I have something very important that I want to ask you today. *picks up a guitar*

Connie looks in awe as Steven begins singing I'd Rather Be Me (With You)

I'd rather be tall,
I'd rather be smart,
I'd rather be sure you know I care.
Wherever you go,
Whatever you start,
I'd rather be sure you know I'm there.
I'd rather I always be apart of whatever you do.
I'd rather be me, with you.

I can't think of any other thing in the world I would rather do...

Connie : *claps* Steven, that's so beautiful!

Connie pauses, seeing Steven get down on one knee and hold up her glow bracelet

Connie : S-Steven?

Steven : Connie...Will you-

But right before he can get his words out, he notices that the ring in his hand suddenly appeared on the sand beside them with a familiar sword impaled in it's round circle

"Well well sorry Universe...Did I interrupt you?"

At that instant he knew that everything went awry

They both turn their heads to see none other than Bluebird Azurite, looking more devious than ever

"I told you I'd be out there... Steven"

She then looks at Connie "Oh now look at what we have here... That small, weak human whom I kidnapped~"

Connie : Aquamarine!

She is playfully smiling as she gets her sword out of her gem eye, showing clearly what she was about to do "It's Bluebird now!"

She then charges, with her sword in hand, at Connie.

She was then intercepted by Lion, who jumped on her and took her by surprise

He slashed her sword out of her hand with his claws

Bluebird : Wha hey get off me!"

Bluebird then flies upward throwing away into the rock wall

Luckily he didn't get hurt too much as he only grunts and shakes his head

Connie the looks at Lion motioning him something

Lion is then seen running off into the portal he created

As he ran off Bluebird takes advantage of the moment as she las her hand on Connie, grabbing her by the hair the same way she did with Mr Universe

Bluebird : Hah looks like your pet has abandoned you!

Bluebird was caught off guard once again this time however she was met with a punch to her face

It was so fast she didn't realise that it came from Steven whose skin again turned pink like the last time they fought

"LET HER GO!"

She then lands in the water as he catches Connie in his arms

"Are you okay? Did she-"

Connie : Don't worry she didn't, you didn't give her time to do anything"

She was surprised a bit though, looking at his glowing form. It must be that new ability she seen in that dream not so long ago. 'So it was real'

For some reason I'm not very good at writign fight sequences all the time.
