CHAPTER 58
—————

Bad things tend to happen in life. Things you're not prepared for. And no one was prepared to get over Soji's disappearance. No one was willing to let her go when everyone knew whom she was dealing with every passing moment.

But it was New Year's Eve already and once again for a whole month there was no trace of her.

Taeyong, despite acting completely calm in front of everyone including his girlfriend and his sister, he was freaking out. Unlike her previous disappearance, this time he actually got clues, but every single one led to a dead end.

He knew what kind of person Minhyuk was. He hadn't met him face to face except that one time to kill him, but even though Soji refused to ever talk about him, Jina was quite descriptive about his whole personality. So he knew how manipulative Minhyuk was. He didn't even doubt anymore that all of the false clues were his doing.

In fact, the only thing he never even thought of was the fact that behind all of those fake directions was one of the most trusted members of his own gang. None other than his sister's longtime boyfriend. Hiding behind the excuse of searching for Soji, Haechan was busy covering Minhyuk's tracks with Sunwoo and feeding the false ones to his own leader.

There was also Jina, postponing literally everything including her boyfriend and school to search for Soji herself, using every single acquaintance she had in the underground. She knew for a fact that even though Soji was reported to the police as a missing person, the police didn't have enough power against someone as sly as Minhyuk. At least they had the borders under control and Taeyong and her were informed of every person leaving and entering the country.

At least unlike the mess she was in when she found out about Minhyuk, now she was unusually calm and thinking more rationally than most. It was like she was distracting herself from the fact that Soji was gone using the fact that she had to solve the case and find her. She had suppressed all of her emotions with the means to focus that most of the time she looked like a robot programmed specifically to search for her best friend.

The rest of the guys had all split ways, using all of the connections they had within South Korea. The police was useful enough to at least make sure they hadn't left the country. There was nowhere to run, so they knew they'd find them eventually, whether it would take a month or a year.

However as much as everyone were in their best shape specifically focused on finding her, the New Year's atmosphere hit different. No one was actually celebrating, but since it was that one day of the year, probably not even the police worked on the case and there was nothing much to do. So that one day break was a wave of depression through the mansion with nothing to distract them from it.
