CHAPTER 21
—————

“My reality is empty without you, but my dreams are full of you...

I have to admit I'm becoming a little jealous of Kang Jaemin these days. You seem to hang out a lot with him without knowing his real face, don't you?

- your secret admirer...”

What the fuck was that? I stared at the new latter with furrowed eyebrows rereading it a couple of times. Jaemin’s real face? I was aware that he indeed had a background, but I still decided to not take it too seriously and put the latter in my back pocket again.

On second thought, we had been hanging out for a while, he knew about the gang, he even got accepted in together with Renjun and Jeno. There was nothing more I would hide from him. But when I thought about him all I knew was his name and nothing more. Who was he really?

“What are you thinking about so hard, love?” I let out a squeak in surprise when the exact same guy I thought about showed up in front of me, trapping me between my locker and him, but with enough space between us to reduce my panic. Jaemin raised a questioning eyebrow at me while I tried to calm my heart down from his sudden appearance.

I pushed him by the chest away from me, making space for myself to move away from the locker. “Nothing, love.” I shook my head. “I just suddenly remembered Taeyong’s reaction when he saw you guys shoot yesterday.” I smirked at him walking down the hallway.

Even though at first I didn’t want them to enter the gang, I didn’t trust them enough and I didn’t believe they could take the burden of killing and crime, when Taeyong asked them to shoot from distance to check their skills I felt like a proud mother especially seeing Taeyong’s amused look once Jaemin and Jeno shot the target from fifty metres distance and Renjun fired the sniper from across the field in the middle of the forest never missing the target even for a millimetre.

Jaemin smirked back, slowly sliding his arm around my waist, giving me shivers along the way. He leaned his head down so close to my ear, I felt his calm breaths tickling my earlobe as he did. His voice low and husky, almost in a whisper. “You still have a lot of things to learn about me, love...”

I looked up searching for his eyes when he pulled away with a half smile. My face showing no emotions at all except for curiosity I tried to hide but failed, the rest of the mixed emotions that made my heartbeat increase were successfully trapped inside of me and forced to stay hidden from him and myself as well.

Then teach me! I wanted to say, but didn’t. Maybe I should have kept trusting him, maybe with time I would find everything out one way or another. Maybe it was nothing bad. Maybe he wasn’t hiding anything at all, he just wasn’t saying anything until he would be questioned about it himself. But danger... Maybe the word that kept bugging me wasn’t coming from him at all. It was something else I should have kept an eye on.
