CHAPTER 31
—————

The sound of the iron door and locker cling against one another echoed loudly through the empty hallway. Another letter left inside and another failed attempt to catch the one leaving the letters there.

I glanced left and right around me, there was still no one alive walking through the corridors of the school. I leaned my back against the locker before I started opening the tiny envelope, with a sigh slowly unwrapping the ribbon around the note. My eyes scanned the italic hand-written letters lazily until I processed what exactly was written on the paper.

“You won’t find me until I want to be found Kim Soji. You might not know who I am yet, my love, but trust me I know everything about you. Past, present and future...
Where should I start? NCT? Or should I go a few years back?

The Vipers?

- your secret admirer...”

Unintentially I let out a high-pitched scream. The piece of paper flew in the air on it’s way down to the floor while I used my shaking hands to cover my mouth and prevent myself from shouting.

I felt trepidation creep through my body like a strong electric shock, making my eyes widen and tear up in concern and petrifaction. I slowly lowered my shaking hands from over my mouth, feeling my heart hammering in my throat, suffocating me as I struggled to breathe normally. But I still found the strength and kneeled leisurely, picking up the piece of paper with trembling hands and legs and rereading the note over and over again.

The Vipers... the name horrified me. Only the sound of it ringing in my ears was recalling countless memories and traumas that made me tremble like a leaf on the wind. I thought I was done with them the moment Taeyong and the rest showed up. I thought after having him dead, I could finally rest and never hear the name ever again.

But something was telling me that with the name of the gang would come the name of its leader as well and I wasn’t prepared to hear it again yet.

“Are you okay love?”

I let out another short scream, not anticipating the sudden voice that came from right next to me, yet I didn’t see the person approaching until he spoke only a step away from me making me instinctively jump away from him until I realized who it was.

My chest rose and fell in a rapid speed and I only stared down hoping that trying to control my breathing would help me once again. The piece of paper was clutched in my sweaty hand as I clenched it hard in a sweaty fist, my knuckles turning white and my nails digging holes in my palm.
