Chapter XLIII: Strained

════════ ××× ════════

SOMEWHAT RIGHT AFTER the Lluminarian elf's near-death experience, Boboiboy and Y/n didn't even try to put any effort into striking a conversation not even once. The two drowned themselves in suffocating depths of silence while they got reunited with everyone else. Boboiboy used his lightning speed to travel but not without carrying the elf with him; still, that didn't mean that they said a single word to each other. Gopal was the first to know about it but he didn't bother to say anything since the topic was sensitive.

They managed to find Ying, Yaya and Fang in no time but not without defeating the rose monsters that they had encountered throughout their journey. They were fortuitous for the first time, Eros seemed to answer their prayers and the rain became lighter and easier to travel through. The rest of their friends noticed how Boboiboy and Y/n behaved towards each other, their disregard towards one another was starting to get obvious.

The three speculated that Gopal knew why this was happening but they agreed to ask him when they'll rest for the day. Nevertheless, that didn't mean that their journey was simple to handle both mentally and physically. Boboiboy rarely acted this silent and preoccupied, they believed what had happened between him and Y/n was something crucial. They concluded that they must have fought before they reunited. Although they knew that they didn't seem the type to fight over something, it must have been indeed something so huge and problematic.

They couldn't do anything but breathe in this horror of an atmosphere, they chose to stay silent because they didn't want to create a conflict and worsen the circumstance. They didn't want to experience a furious Boboiboy all over again, it was practically difficult to calm him down and he tends to get carried away by his emotions easily when he's stressed or deep in thought about a problem.

As they continued to walk, they managed to catch sight of a village nearby after a long journey of suffocating silence between two certain members of the squad. Thinking that they need to rest for the day, they made a beeline towards the said village. They were starving, exhausted and even mentally drained from all of the situations that they have encountered throughout the day. "A village! Maybe we can ask for help there, it's still raining after all," Yaya flew down to her friends.

"Well... We can't camp out here in this weather, let's ask the villagers," the shadow manipulator nodded his head in agreement, glancing at the nearby village in hope. "I don't want to be under this rain even longer, jom!" Gopal shivered as a sudden gust of wind blew past them. As soon as the team made their decision, they sauntered closer to the direction of the newfound village in the middle of the jungle-like biome of Plantae.

The village was quiet, not a single creature can be found lingering outside the village grounds primarily because of the never-ending downpour. Feet stepping onto the wooden flooring of the village, executing audible but light creaking sounds. The nearest dwelling made of wooden planks caught their sight. They mentally prayed that the villagers will be hospitable enough to help and accept them in their humble abode.
