Chapter XLVII: Déjà Vu

════════ ××× ════════

GINGERLY, a good amount of pairs of eyes scanned the quiet and uncomfortable environment before them. There were no signs of the Huay Chivo at the moment but they remained patient─ well most of them were. While hiding behind a bush, Boboiboy Ice let out a yawn which was noticed by his fellow element beside him. Boboiboy Cyclone unintentionally yawned as if it was something contagious. The fire element, Blaze, also couldn't help but yawn in front of Gopal's face after seeing Cyclone.

Gopal was the last one to yawn since Y/n wasn't affected by their yawning, a bit confused about why the four yawned as if they were passing it one by one. She cocked her head to the side while looking at the four humans out of bewilderment. "I'm getting kinda sleepy you know? How about─" Gopal paused when Fang spoke, disagreeing with the molecular hero. "No, we already talked about this. This is the only time the Huay Chivo will show itself, we can't miss this opportunity," the shadow manipulator argued.

The molecule manipulator huffed in disappointment while crossing his arms, mumbling incoherent complaints. "He's right, that crazy goat doesn't come out in the daytime," Adu Du suddenly spoke, leaning his back against a tree as Probe came out from behind him. "I almost forgot about those two," Ying whispered to Yaya as her sweat dropped. The said molecular hero scoffed lightly, hating how correct they were. "Come on, Gopal that doesn't sound so bad, is it? It will be fun!" Boboiboy Cyclone placed an arm around the older superhero as a grin was plastered upon his face.

"Yeah, staying awake doesn't seem so hard? Right, Ice?" Boboiboy Blaze peeked from behind the wind element, helping him reassure the molecule superhero. From that question, all eyes were now on the said calm and relaxed element who blinked in bewilderment. "Uh... As long as you are motivated by something? I guess..." The said element was unsure of his answer, he wondered why of all people he had to be the one to receive such a question. "Yeah! How about you think of something that will motivate you like Ice?" Cyclone beamed brightly, holding his chin.

"Something that motivates me?" Gopal thought hard while a serious look began to replace his frown. "Well, you know... like a lifetime supply of food! Plus, after this mission maybe we will be able to go home! And we will get to taste Tok's cocoa desserts or even eat Uncle Kumar's ice cream, you know, just like the old times," Blaze reminisced while puckering his lips and snapping his fingers. The once neutral look on Y/n's face disappeared upon hearing what Blaze has stated, making her realise what he meant.

'How bittersweet.' The Lluminarian clenched her jaw as the cruelty of fate dawned upon her.

She didn't need to be reminded about the end of the mission where they'll have to part ways and resume their respective lives. Y/n didn't want to leave them, she had grown an emotional attachment to her friends. Leaving them was almost equivalent to leaving her family─or perhaps because she certainly deemed them like her own. But who was she to address such an issue? They had different lives and they had their own choices. She had enough of being selfish. No matter what happens, their happiness will always be her happiness.
