Chapter XLIV: Alliance

════════ ××× ════════

THE TENSED ATMOSPHERE continued to linger around them right after Y/n refused to listen to Adu Du's command. The green alien slightly stiffened while he gritted his teeth; he contemplated his decisions since he knew what elves were capable of from what his magus friend told him, especially the eldians. Y/n stood tall, letting her serious and taunting gaze burn through the shorter alien with so much ease. Adu Du's other hand travelled to the other side of the handle of the gun, tightening his grip.

He just wanted her to listen but he can't shoot her either. He was told to bring the bearer alive since it was her only who can bring out the artefacts. If he shot her dead, then this whole thing would probably be useless. It was better to threaten her into listening to him, but then again it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be. Adu Du had to deal with her stubbornness. Probe began shaking in his place, imaginary sweat forming from his metallic forehead.

'Oh no Mister Boss, don't shoot her! Please don't,' Probe mentally yelled but he wasn't able to let it out verbally due to nervousness and he didn't want to disobey his boss. If he had fingernails, he would've been biting them already. Before anything else could happen, a certain young man intervened in the scene by stepping up to block the female elf with his body. Boboiboy raised his arms sideways in a protective manner, his serious gaze never once leaving Adu Du's figure.

"I won't let you shoot anyone or even Y/n, " Boboiboy began without any signs of hesitation laced in his voice. Y/n blinked in surprise, studying the back of her friend standing in front of her. "There must be something else better we can do," he yelled to convince the box-headed alien, they couldn't result in violence especially when he knew that there was something wrong with the artefact since he couldn't control his Thorn Element. He was sure something was going to be there to prevent them from saving the Gem of Leaf.

"What is it then!?" Adu Du barked, snapping his head at Boboiboy, getting himself caught up with his sudden burst of emotions. The elemental hero locked his eyes with Y/n's (e/c) ones, feeling uncertain about his decision. The Lluminarian elf gave him an encouraging nod, if he thought it was for the best then there was no reason for her to disagree, she trusted him gratefully. Boboiboy stiffened on his spot once he got the message but huffed in determination soon after. The elemental superhero turned back to the alien with newfound confidence.

"I know you plan to betray King Lunos anyway in the end, but you don't have to go through this and that just because he threatened you to do this," he began, trying to negotiate with their long arch enemy. Adu Du lowered his gun as he distrustfully looked at the boy with an orange explorer hat. "What do you want? Do you think you can go against him then?" Adudu started without gazing away from the group of teenagers before him.

"Then what's the use of going to this mission if we think we can't?" Boboiboy immediately shot without a single sign of reluctance from his voice.

Gopal prevented the sudden urge to let out a low whistle while Fang had an impressed expression displayed on his face. This was something new from the original Boboiboy because they were used to hearing that when he's either transformed or split into many elements. "Besides, even if in terms of strength we're at loss, Y/n is knowledgeable when it comes to magic. The reason why we're here is to retrieve and save the artefacts, that same artefacts can be used against the king also," he continued, his voice becoming lighter as he spoke.
