The Fix

Percy's POV

"I really don't know what to make of this," Percy whispered quietly to Connor as they watched the two martians interact with each other.

It is now way past midnight and early in the morning, about 5 hours after Alpha had completed their mission at Lexcorp farm. Dick had decided to call in Miss Martian last minute to meet them at Star Labs, where they will question Green Beetle. Miss M seemed nervous about using her power to dive into the minds of her own kind which somewhat confuses Percy since reading people's minds usually comes easy for the green girl. Then again, she had been away from the mortal world and hero business for a really long time, things are not what they used to be.

"Yeah, well, that makes the two of us," Connor whispered back, eyes locked on Megan. "I don't think she's ready for this, not after what happened..."

Percy raised an eyebrow. "what happened?"

An arm came around her waist and Percy's attention was immediately divered. Dick turned his gaze from the two martians to the girl in his arms. "If you are tired you can always head back first," he said softly. "It's been a long day..."

"I'm fine, Bird-boy," Percy answered with a smile. "I've stayed up later than this. Besides, I can't leave yet, not until you all do."

"If you insist, Love," Dick said, kissing the top of her head and walked off again. Connor gave Percy a nod and followed after Nightwing. Percy stayed back to watch the scene played out in front of her, now that she's alone, she finally had time to process all that had happened in the last 24 hours.

First, Lexie-boy has teamed up with the Reach aliens, and they are planting fruits that contain some unknown stuff in them and are shipping them out into the public. Second, the Reach have little colorful weird devices called beetles that will attached themselves to 'hosts' and eventually turn their hosts into Reach-loyaled-slaves. Third, speaking of beetles, there are currently three that run free upon the face of the earth; there's Jaime, their teammate; Black Beetle, the powerful Reach sidekick; and Green Beetle, the Martian who was now smiling creepily at Megan.

Percy fought down the shivers when she saw that smile while Green looked confused. "Does my smile displease?" he asked through the creepy smile. "Is this not how humans convey friendship and put each other at ease?"

Clearly this guy has not been practicing his smiles in the mirror.

Lagoon Boy walked up to Miss M's side and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Come on, Angelfish. Reading this guy will be a piece of crab cake."

"Ew," Percy whispered. "Who would do such a thing to an innocent little crab?"

Megan looked hesitant behind her, Percy got the girl's attention and gave her a big thumbs up. The Martian girl managed a smile and turned back again. After a while, she stepped away from Green Beetle and turned to Nightwing. "Green Beetle is on our side," She declared loudly.

Dick's POV

He wouldn't deny that he was tired, he had been up and about for more than 24 hours now without a single dose of energy drink. Right now he's just holding it all together until they sort out everything. When Miss M declared that Green Beetle was on their side, Dick was ready to dismiss the Team and go home.

But apparently, they can't go home just yet. A beep in his ear told him that a call had been made. "Nightwing here," he answered.

"Hey," it was Captain Atom. "I have something you might want to know, I'm sending one to you via zeta-tube and one through mail."

"Copy," Dick answered, just as a scientist walked in and handed him an energy drink. "Uh, thank you?"

"Did you get it?" Captain Atom asked through the comm. "The energy drink?"
