"soobin! let's go my beautiful romeo~" beomgyu called endearingly, waiting for soobin to catch up to him on the sidewalk. soobin panted, hands resting on his knees as he held up a finger to tell beomgyu to wait.
soobin was tired because he had just sprinted after beomgyu, after the younger had jabbed him in the ribcage and screamed 'last one there has to kiss yeonjuice!' and of course soobin did not want to kiss yeonjuice.
"why... are you... so.. fast." soobin panted, forcing himself to stand up straight and face the younger, who was smiling up at him.
"because you couldn't pay me enough to kiss yeonjun. better luck next time though!" beomgyu singsonged, dashing forward once more and leaving soobin to stand on the sidewalk.
soobin groaned before sprinting after him once more, ready to wring his neck.
-
the two boys were now sitting on their couch, panting and trying to catch their breath.
"i'm like 5 feet taller than you yet you can still run faster than me i literally don't understand." soobin complained, hanging his head over the edge of the couch.
beomgyu stood up on the couch when he realized soobin couldn't see him, awaiting the perfect moment to execute his plan.
"choi beo-"
too late.
beomgyu had leapt directly onto soobin's stomach, the force knocking the both of them to the floor, a loud thump following.
"owww.." soobin groaned, feeling as if every bone in his body had broken.
beomgyu was trying to resituate himself to be comfortable, unknowingly crushing soobin's organs.
well, maybe he did know he was crushing soobin.
"why are you such a disastrous person?!" soobin grumbled, pushing the smaller off of his stomach and onto the floor.
beomgyu shrugged, jumping up from the floor hyperly and sprinting down the hallway of their shared apartment.
he ran into his room and stopped running, taking a moment to catch his breath by leaning against his doorway.
when he had recovered, he launched himself and belly flopped onto his bed, quickly rolling off of it to the side, which was a small space between his bed and his wall. he liked to sit there a lot, as he had all of his stuffed animals and various blankets stashed there, like a comfy little corner.
beomgyu leaned back into the comfort of the area, pulling out a notebook from under his bed. he flicked through it carelessly as his eyes rested upon a page filled with scribbled words.
"new song?" soobin's voice startled beomgyu and made him jump, slightly ruffling the pages from the shock.
"i guess, it's mostly just random phrases and figments of my horrible imagination." beomgyu replied, settling back into his corner as soobin made his way over, sitting on beomgyu's bed.
"it's not exactly..happy." beomgyu said more quietly now, rifling back through the pages to where he was.
"can i see? or is it private?" soobin asked gently, looking down to the younger as he concentrated on scribbling some words down.
"i mean i guess you can, i don't really mind." beomgyu said mindlessly, mood drastically switched from minutes ago.
soobin watched as the younger pushed the notebook onto the bed, immediately busying himself with his phone so he wouldn't be embarrassed by soobin's reaction.
soobin's eyes trailed over the page, surprised by the sadness of beomgyu's words.
i'm running outta teardrops
let it hurt til it stops
i can't keep my grip
i'm slipping away from me
oh god, everything is so fucked
but i can't feel a thing
the emptiness is heavier than you think"gyu? are you okay..?" soobin asked worriedly, sadness filling his heart as he realized the younger had written this from his mind.
beomgyu looked up and shrugged, giving soobin a smile that wasn't genuine.
"i'm chilling, been in my emo era lately." beomgyu said, taking back his notebook before scribbling more words onto the crinkled page.
"i'm always here if you need anyone, never forget that." soobin said softly, heart lifting ever so slightly as beomgyu smiled up at him.
"thank you hyungie, i'm gonna write some more now and probably nap, or practice." beomgyu said, pushing his long brown hair out of his face to continue writing in his notebook of despair.
"call for me if you need me~" soobin said sweetly, exiting beomgyu's room with a small wave. beomgyu waved back with a smile, genuine this time.
beomgyu relaxed back into the comfort of his cozy spot, propping his notebook against his folded knees.
he sucked his lip into his mouth as he concentrated, tapping his pencil against his cheek.
he scribbled a few more notes down and then set down his notebook, reaching for something under his bed.
beomgyu carefully slid out a guitar from underneath his bed, being sure to treat it with the utmost care.
he treated his guitar better than he treated himself.
he brought it to rest on his lap as he fixed his posture, allowing his hands to rest so naturally, to where they seemed to fit perfectly against the cold strings.
the sleek white guitar seemed to fit perfectly against his body, as if it had been separated from beomgyu's body at birth and then reunited.
his hands effortlessly stroked the strings, bringing a melodic hum to his ears. he began to play how his lyrics made him feel, the lyrics that had poured directly from his vein of emotion.
the tune had brought a heavy feeling of immense helplessness, yet also felt like it empowered him to be better.
he always wanted to be better, for his parents.
the parents that kicked him out at 17, the parents that disowned him for his likes; whether it be playing guitar or dancing.
he had always loved to dance, to any song. he would find a way to incorporate moving his body into any song, and enjoying every bit of it.
and he loved to see people come together over music, which brought his love for playing guitar.
when he had picked up both hobbies, his parents had turned up their nose and denied him of pursuing either activity.
they were both successful business partners, and they wanted beomgyu to follow so that he could be stable.
except, he didn't want to be stable.
he enjoyed the thrill of not knowing what was next, and he hated planning far in advance; the opposite of his parents.
so every time he brought his fingers to those wiry strings, and felt the callouses that formed under them, he felt free.
the melody was now freely flowing from the tips of his fingers, liberating every pent up emotion he had incarcerated in his mind.
his guitar was the only thing that truly could take his mind off of his everyday life, truly allowing him to be his genuine self; choi beomgyu.
