four days.
four days had passed since yeonjun had texted beomgyu and he was ready to rip his hair out. soobin had reassured him that beomgyu was perfectly alive, but the thought only made yeonjun more upset.
beomgyu couldn't help himself from falling deeper into his depression, staying in his room as much as he could. he wanted to avoid any contact at this point, and avoided seeing soobin as well.
throughout those four days, beomgyu had done virtually nothing except for sleep. when he wasn't sleeping, he was listening to music, or staring off at the wall in some sort of daze. thinking about the friends that he was neglecting.
of course he wanted to see them. he wanted to hear soobin's over-dramaticness, taehyun's playful threats to anyone who touched him, and see kai's overpowering love for everyone. he wanted to hear wooyoung's laugh, and see yeosang's fond smile.
he wanted to cling to yeonjun like a baby koala and never let go. he wanted to hear the older speak again, and smell his milk and honey shampoo.
but he knew he shouldn't take his own selfishness over his friends' well-being, and kept himself locked away.
it was now friday once again, but not that beomgyu really knew what day it was. he knew yeonjun had visited the house each day, and each day, he stayed silent. but no matter what, yeonjun always came.
beomgyu was finding it harder to even want to leave his bed, let alone his room, and his food intake had been drastically low. not that he really cared.
it had marked one week since he had taken his leave, and only one week was left before he would have to return to school. one week left of freedom, and then he would have to put on a facade for who knows how long.
soobin had come up every few hours to check on him, leaving dinner plates outside of his door. beomgyu tried to eat them, he really did, but a few bites was all he could muster.
he didn't have the energy to eat, and he barely could drag himself out of his room to use the bathroom or shower. he was in the biggest slump (stan skz) he had ever been in, and he didn't know how to get out of it.
the only good thing in his mind was that the marks from xion were disappearing, which made it slightly more bearable to look at his reflection.
the reflection that stared back with hollow eyes, sunken cheekbones, and not the first trace of a smile. beomgyu barely recognized himself anymore.
it was currently 3:14pm, and beomgyu knew soobin would be getting home soon. which meant yeonjun would also be arriving. which meant beomgyu should go to sleep, so that he didn't feel as bad for ignoring yeonjun.
yeonjun had walked home with soobin every single day for the last week, and then he would sit outside of beomgyu's door and tell him about his day.
yeonjun would talk for up to an hour each day, telling all of the little details to beomgyu like they hadn't seen each other in years. but each felt that way, even just a week without the first sign of contact was beginning to wear down the boys.
so yeonjun would sit criss-cross outside of beomgyu's door, smiling through his pain as he ran through his day. in a way, he was happy that beomgyu couldn't see him, and see the tears that always ran down his face. he never knew he'd miss his once-enemy as bad as he did, but he really couldn't be bothered with worrying about the past.
yeonjun wanted to be there for beomgyu so badly that it physically hurt his heart.
a few minutes had passed and beomgyu was now covered by his blanket, trying to force himself to go to sleep before soobin and yeonjun could arrive.
as he laid there, counting the minutes in his head, he became slightly concerned at the fact that they weren't home around the time that they normally were. but, being beomgyu, he assumed that they were just hanging out or something.
something that he would love to join in on, if he had the will to.
-
soobin arrived home alone at 3:30pm, trying his best to stay quiet because normally beomgyu was normally asleep around this time. he set his bag on the ground and wandered to his room, flopping exhaustedly onto his bed and letting out a puff of air.
yeonjun had told him he had plans after school, which soobin was glad to see that yeonjun didn't seem entirely too sad about not seeing beomgyu. he was glad yeonjun was getting out more than usual, and hoped that beomgyu would be doing better soon. he knew the boy liked his space, as soobin and beomgyu had been through a lot together.
soobin knew when to step in, and when to let beomgyu do his thing. right now was best to let beomgyu have his time, but if it continued past his two weeks then soobin would step in and do his best to aid in any way he could.
with the silent house and an everlasting heavy heart, soobin joined beomgyu in the land of dreams.
-
soobin's nap was much shorter, interrupted by the knocking on the door. he knew who it was.
beomgyu was still sound asleep, passing the hours like the passing cars on the road. he had always been a relatively light sleeper, so the ritual knock at his door brought him out of his slumber. he stayed silent as he always would, but nevertheless slowly sat up so that he could hear yeonjun's voice better.
"hey beomgyu... school was okay today. only one week until hopefully i get to see you again though, so i'm kinda holding onto that hope i guess.. if someone asked me why i missed you so much, i wouldn't even be able to tell them. i guess i just.. i find comfort in knowing how alike we are now. i miss you gyu, please stay safe." yeonjun's voice wafted through the door like the smell that freshly baked cookies would.
comforting and sweet.
"also, i brought your favorite ice cream. i'll leave it outside your door for a bit, and if you're asleep or don't want it i'll just ask soobin to get it in 10 minutes or so. hope you're eating enough, i'll be back tomorrow." yeonjun said, sadness in his tone despite the small smile on his face.
beomgyu felt his heart breaking slightly at the pain in yeonjun's voice; he could hear it so clearly.
beomgyu's heart really wanted him to sprint out of bed and swing his door open, just to catch a small glimpse of the boy who he now cared about so much. but his brain refused to even move a muscle, leaving him planted in his sitting position in his bed.
footsteps receded away from beomgyu's room and he heard yeonjun bid soobin a farewell, followed by the front door shutting.
he wondered how yeonjun knew his favorite ice cream, and soon chalked it up to soobin telling him. either way, it was thoughtful and it made beomgyu's heart jump.
he had assumed that it was around 4pm, as yeonjun usually didn't stay late, but was surprised to find it was 7:04pm.
did he stay for 3 hours??
probably not, he'd get bored.
after he was absolutely positive yeonjun was gone, and soobin wasn't near, beomgyu quietly got out of his bed and went to his door, listening one last time before cracking it open.
laying on the ground in front of his door was a cookie dough ice cream bar, a bag of doritos, and a large bottle of raspberry flavored tea.
and beside the food was a matte black guitar case, slightly unzipped to reveal the sleek white and light blue guitar nestled inside.
