Steve crossed the grassland. It wasn't long before he was at the foot of a large mountain. He figured this was around the middle of Sector 29. It would take too long to go around, so he started climbing the mountain.

The foot of the mountain was mostly grass, but Steve could see as it got higher it turned into stone, and at the top it was snowing. Steve figured he could live through that.

Steve jumped up the mountain. Looking at the sky, he could see the sun was on its way down. It would be setting in an hour or two.

He had to hurry.

A Spider walked past him, and Steve jolted, readying his stone sword (since Notch snapped his diamond one and Delta took his iron one). But then he remembered Spiders were friendly during the day, and hostile at night. Steve kept climbing the mountain.

When he was nearing the stony area, he happened to look to his left. What he saw brightened his day.

A village.

Steve walked towards it. It was about two hundred blocks away. He figured he could spend the night there, since the sun would be setting soon.

He hoped this one wouldn't end up like Harville.

As Steve got closer, he noticed something different about this village. Some of the buildings didn't look like standard Villager buildings. They looked more...creative. It was as if someone had added on to the village. And that could only mean one thing.

People.

Sure enough, when he was about fifty blocks away, someone started running towards him. She definitely wasn't a Villager.

"Steve!" the girl about his age shouted as she ran.

How does she know my name? Steve wondered. He stopped walking.

She had straight, white blonde hair that went down to her shoulders. She was pale, and had a few freckles on each cheek. She had deep blue eyes, and a huge smile on her face. Her teeth were perfectly straight. She wore a simple loose, gray, long-sleeved shirt and jeans. She had tennis shoes. This girl looked kind of familiar to Steve.

And she was running straight for him.

Steve didn't know what to do. So he didn't do anything. He just stood there, watching her as she ran.

When she reached him, she threw her arms around him in a big hug and said, "You're back!"

Steve didn't hug back. He had no idea who this girl was. Why should he hug her?

A few seconds later she pulled back and looked at him with concern.

"Are you okay?" she asked. "You look...different."

"Um...this may sound really bad but...who are you?" Steve asked, trying to sound as gentle as possible.

She looked hurt. "Mojang did something to you," she whispered. "Steve. It's me. Ruby."

The name didn't ring a bell. Ruby, Steve thought. Where have I heard that before?

"I'm sorry," Steve said. "Mojang erased my memories. I just woke up less than a week ago in a forest in Sector 36."

"No," Ruby whispered, more to herself than to Steve. "They can't have...no..." She looked lost.

"Can I um...stay in your village for tonight?" Steve asked. "Tomorrow I'm headed for Mojang."

Ruby's eyes widened. "What?! You can't go there! You'll get yourself killed!"

"Actually, I just got back from there," Steve said. "I defeated The Iron Destroyer."

"You...defeated..." Ruby stuttered. All of a sudden, she grabbed Steve's hand and started pulling him to the village. "We both have a lot of explaining to do," she said.

As they walked through the village, Steve saw lots of Villagers and people. They all looked at Steve like they knew him. Some even waved.

A little boy Villager who couldn't be older than six said, "Steve! You escaped the bad guys! I knew you would!"

Steve didn't answer. He had no idea what was going on.

Steve looked around the village in awe. This definitely was not a normal village. The houses had more style, the buildings were bigger, and everything seemed more decorative than a normal village. The watchtower looked like a fort.

They passed a buff African American guy about the same age as Steve and Ruby. He said, "Yo, what's up Steve?! I knew you'd make it back. No one believed me, but I knew." He wore a white muscle shirt and jeans. He had brown eyes and brown hair.

"Not now, Jay," Ruby said. She leaned close to him and whispered in his ear. Jay's eyes widened. "We have to take him to Lourd," he said seriously.

Ruby nodded and grabbed Steve's hand again, pulling him down the gravel road. He couldn't help but notice how casually she took his hand. Were they...no they couldn't be.

"Wait, you guys have a lord?" Steve asked. "That's kinda weird."

"No," Ruby said. "Lourd is his name. He is kind of like our leader, though."

"Oh," Steve said, not knowing what else to say.

Ruby stopped in front a church that had clearly been expanded on. "In here," she said, opening the door. She pulled Steve in, and Jay followed, closing the door behind him.

The place was huge. It was probably big enough for the entire population of the village. It seemed like it was used as a meeting place. There were seats in straight lines, facing the front, with an aisle down the middle.

In the front, there was a man sitting in a chair facing the audience. There were two guards on either side of him. As they walked closer, Steve got a good look at the man. He was bald and muscular. He wore a simple black T-shirt and black pants. He had brown eyes, and looked to be about forty years old.

Ruby pulled Steve next to her and she, him, and Jay stood in a line facing the guy in the chair.

"Steve!" the man exclaimed. "I thought you were dead. Well done making it back to us."

"Lourd," Ruby said. "Mojang erased his memories. He doesn't remember us at all."

The bald man, who must be Lourd, furrowed his brow. "He remembers nothing?" he asked, like Steve wasn't there.

"Nothing before a week ago," Ruby replied.

"Um, excuse me for a second," Steve interrupted. "Who are you guys?"

Lourd looked at Steve.

"Welcome to the Resistance."
