She sighed, flipping through the papers on her desk.

*knock knock*

"Come in" she said without raising her head from the desk.
The door opened and closed. She heard approaching footsteps. She looked up to see the one person she'd worried about all week.

"Mason?" She said getting up on her feet.
"We need to talk" he said walking closer to her.
"No, we don't" she said moving away from him. He'd ghosted her for a week straight and here he was trying to talk.
"Hear me out, please" he pleaded.

"Why?, where were you?. You just left without a word, you didn't call, you didn't answer my calls too and you want to talk? About what?" She questioned, hoping he'd have a reasonable explanation.

"Were you worried about me?.. you were" he chuckled.
"Don't flatter yourself" she said rolling her eyes.
"I'll explain. I didn't mean to ignore you on purpose" he said holding her hand.
"But?" She asked knowing the conversation was leading to a but.

"Truth is-
Just then Amelia's phone started ringing, disrupting their conversation.
"I have to answer." She said before picking up the call.

"Hey" she said immediately she answered the call.
Mason didn't know what the call was about but he could tell from her expression that it was nothing good.

Her phone slipped from her hand and fell to the floor.
"Is everything okay?" He asked.
"No. Everything is far from being okay"
"Tell me, what's wrong?" he said placing his hand on her shoulder.
She met his eyes, her eyes were filled with tears.

"It's- my daughter. My sister just called to say my daughter is no where to be found. She's missing. She said someone in a black Porsche came to pick her up. She may have been kidnapped.. who could do such a thing!?"She cried.

"You have a daughter?" He asked shocked.
"Yeah I do but she's missing now"
"I thought her school had buses."
"She had to take extra classes. It's all my fault."
"It's not. I'm sure she's fine"

"Easy for you to say. I'm filing a missing report" she said grabbing her phone.
He snatched the phone from her.
"It's too early. Wait an hour, for all we know she might not be missing"
"I can't sit on my butt for one freaking hour when my daughter is missing" she tried to leave but he held her back.

"Let go of me" she yelled, jerking her hand away and storming into the hallway.
He chased after her and caught her.

"Let go of me, Mason. I have to find my daughter. If anything happens to her-"
"Nothing will happen to her. Get a grip, you need to think things through first"
She seemed to stop fighting his grip around her waist. He slowly let go of her and he pulled her into a hug.

"She's gonna be fine, I promise" he said gently stroking her hair.
She cried harder, tugging to his shirt.
"She'll be okay, right? She'll come back to me"
She needed assurance.
"Yes, she will"
They stayed like that for a while.

Andre walked by, and called Amelia to his office.
"You should go. Don't worry, she'll be fine"
He assured her again before she left for Mr.Andre's office.

She stood in the center of the room, her head down.
He stared at her with concern, he hadn't called her in to assign her to any work. Rather he called to check up on her, which was unusual.

"Are you okay?" He finally asked.
"Yes,sir" she said sniffing in tears.
"You don't seem okay. You can tell me anything"
He wasn't in the right place to say a thing like that.
"I'm fine sir"
"You can tell Mason and you can't tell me?"
Was that jealousy?
Just then her phone rang.
"Excuse me sir, I have to take this call" she said moving to the corner of the room.

It was Annie calling.
"Is she back?" She asked
"Yeah, she is. I just got back home and met her sitting on the porch"
"I'm glad she's back. I'll be there soon, I'll question her myself"
"Hmm.. okay. Sorry that I made you worry"
"I'm just glad she's okay. I'll talk to you later"

"Sir-
"Take the rest of the day off." He said, knowing fully well that she needed it.
"Okay, sir" she said leaving his office.
She met Mason by her office.
She hugged him. "She's okay and she's back home"
"That's a relief"
"Yeah, I have to go. We'll talk more tomorrow, bye"
"Bye" he said as she grabbed her bag and walked away.
He wanted to talk to her about something, but he's gonna have to wait.
