Trying Out For The Future

Braeden's POV

My alarm woke me up early, at around 7:00 am. Everything has kinda been coming at me fast recently. I got my Hyper Crystal, started attending HPA, and now today, I'm going to go try out for Spex's Apprentice Program. I wonder if I'll actually get to meet him though.

My phone began going off, signaling that I got a text message. It was Dylan, asking if I was ready.

I responded, letting him know that I was. I'm not really sure what to expect, but one thing I do know? Is that I have to get into this program. I have to become stronger. What happened to Devin... I have to make sure something like that never happens again.

I finally met up with Dylan, Lee, Lenny, and Declan. I wondered where that Kyro guy was though. Maybe he's already there.

"So how are we getting there?" Declan asked, and we all looked at Lenny.

"What?" Lenny said.

"Aren't you going to teleport us or something?" Lee asked.

"Don't look at me." Lenny said. "I can't teleport today."

"Bro. Then what the hell CAN you do?" Declan said.

"Uh, kick your ass?" Lenny said right back.

Declan's bone blades then shot out of his elbows.

"You know what Lenny-" He started.

"Save it for the tryouts." Dylan eye rolled. "It's fine, I'll call us an Uber or something."

While we waited for the Uber to get here I began practicing my powers. Shutting them on and off. Yesterday when I fought Lee, my powers shut off right before I could deliver the finishing blow. That cannot happen today.

"Braeden?" Lee said, watching my body light up with blue lightning on and off.

"Yeah?" I said.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm practicing control. Yesterday, I felt it waver a lot when we were fighting." I said, but Lee didn't respond, instead he just looked down at the ground.

"So Lenny what's your power for today?" Dylan asked him.

"You'll see." Lenny said. "It's a surprise."

"I wonder what they're gonna have us do." Said Declan. "I'm hoping we get a chance to fight."

"Won't be long before we find out." Dylan said. "I was hoping Valé would be here, but I guess not."

"Well if we do end up fighting there's not much she could really do." Said Lee.

"Fair point, but her powers are amazing. It would've been awesome if she chose to show them." Dylan said.

Finally, our Uber arrived, and when it did, I started becoming nervous. This is really important. I have decent control of my powers, but I need my control to be solid enough to help me make the cut in this try out.

Devin's POV

I sat down at a desk, in front of a nice looking woman. Today was my first day at this... therapy school. I don't want to be here. I want to see Braeden, and Lenny, and all of my other friends. I just want to go home.
