Tears began to fill my eyes, as Valé faced the crowd once again.

"Valé..." I spoke, my voice starting to shake.

Valé's POV
"I wish I could reassure everyone here but I can't! And I'm sorry for that, I really am!" I yelled to the crowd. "The truth is, we're all scared! We're just like you! We care about our friends and neighbors too!"
Watching Braeden trying to save people so desperately got me thinking... when heroes are in pain, when heroes are suffering... who protects them? Who's there for them?
I thought back to when Braeden saved me when we fought Devin. When he saved me while Gozo tried to kill me. The many people he saved while out in the streets, fighting all by himself. Heroes... can't do their jobs without support from the ones they're trying to protect. It's our job... to keep his spirits high, and remember why he's fighting.
It helped me realize... that the people who protect heroes... are the ones that they fight for!
"So please... lend him your support! Help him fight for us!" I said, as I noticed tears in Braeden's eyes, which made my heart beat hard against my chest, and I took a deep breath. "Search your hearts! Will you allow him to rest at your side? Will you give him time to prepare for his final battle to protect us? Braeden Wilson is carrying the burden of his power and trying to keep us safe! But he still has a lot to learn! He's only a kid!"
Tears streamed down Braeden's face as I spoke out to the crowd.

I took a deep breath as tears filled my eyes.
"I'M BEGGING YOU!" I yelled as Braeden began falling over, continuing to cry.

"LET'S BECOME...!" I started as he fell to his knees, overwhelmed by his emotions. Memories of his sweet smile, and kind touch flashed through my mind.

Capri ran through the crowd of people to reach him, and tears began falling from my eyes as I remembered the words Braeden told me when I was nervous to try out for Spex's Apprentice Program.
A single step is all it takes to start down a new path!
