EVER SINCE ME AND JAMES LOST THE duet, I have never felt more like a burden to my team. Our relationship problems were so bad to the point that our friends couldn't handle it. I had a duet and now it's gone.

I haven't gone to class in the last two days. When my mom talked to Kate, she said that I wasn't needed. Wasn't needed. Richelle told me that the team's balance was off because of all the drama. "It's time to go back." Richelle said, busting into my room.

"Time to go back to what?" I groan, hiding my face in my pillows. "Wow! You're gone for two days and you're already forgetting your fundamentals." Richelle sneers, pulling the blankets back. "You're going back to the studio. You still dance there."

"Kate said I wasn't needed." I try to explain. "But Riley, Talia, Giselle, and even Emily want you back. Now get your butt out of bed." She orders, slamming the door and leaving. She's been around Emily for way too long.

When I got back to the studio, it surprised me with how much I missed. The entire day, Emily couldn't stop talking about how she had feelings for Hunter and had a minor altercation with Michelle.

It is slightly baffling how the love triangle turned into a square. I could avoid the whole James and I topic, but I have a feeling that they were also avoiding it.

As of now, I'm packing my dance bag to go home. "Hey Noelle." Talia greets, walking up to me with Giselle. "Oh, hey guys." I say politely. I haven't exactly had a proper conversation with Giselle and Talia since they took the duet.

"How you doing?" She asks. "I'm alright. Why what's up?" I ask, seeing the nervousness on their faces. "Look, we didn't really want the duet. It was a fake challenge. We just wanted to push you and James to work harder." Talia fesses up.

"It makes sense that Giselle and Talia wouldn't actually challenge us. I mean, it doesn't seem like them to go behind our back like that and it was sweet of them for trying to push us, but it just wasn't working."

"Look, guys, I really appreciate it, but I just don't care anymore." I honestly tell them. I spent two days in my room wondering if the duet was worth it and it wasn't. "Noelle, we're really, really sorry. Please, we need you guys to do the duet." Giselle pleads.

"You have to do the duet." Talia encourages. "Guys, you're lucky I'm even on the team right now. Our actions affected you guys." I tell them.

"I don't see it as letting the team down by giving the duet to Giselle and Talia. It just gives us a better chance."

"Is there anything we can do?" Giselle asks. "Yeah, you can practice. You're the Nationals duet. Don't let us down." I say, before grabbing my bag and walking out, ignoring their calls from behind.

Unfortunately for me, I have to walk home. My mom's got a problem driving to the same place twice in one day in one hour. So I opted out and walked home. But James running up to walk with me wasn't part of the plan.

"I don't know why James is walking home with me right now. I don't even want to talk to him. So, we just walk in silence."

For a while we walked in silence, but I was the one to break it. "Should you be doing this with Beth? Lately, I never see you two apart." I partially lie. I've never seen them together, but the girls do.

"She hangs around you like..." my voice fade trying to find the right word. "Like a moth to a lightbulb?" He asks. I smile slightly. "Yeah, like a moth. Which makes you the lightbulb?" I inquire.

James lets out a breathy laugh, one that I've missed. "I'll tell you, I'm not the brightest lightbulb." He says. I almost laugh, giving into my old laugh but cover it up and it's obvious James notices as he grabs my arm to stop me and face him.

"Noelle, what happened to us? I thought we had everything." He says. "So did I. But that's just life, I guess. Always throwing obstacles." I respond and when he doesn't, I walk away, knowing he'd catch up again.

"Look, I have lots of homework, so I should get home." I say, trying not to cry. "Oh, I'll walk you home," James says without thinking. "No, I'll walk home by myself and you'll go to yours or back to the studio. It's better this way." I say solemnly before speed walking home.

"We both know how it got so complicated and it's just best to see what the future will hold without me and James together."

A/N:
two updates in December so far!!! I must be having free time. Actually I don't but I make time for this book. Also I chose to add Richelle and Noelle scene together since not only would it show their relationship but there wasn't much to go off from this episode to make the chapter long. Anyways I hoped you enjoyed.
