I'M SITTING WITH EMILY AND
Stephanie at the doctor's office, waiting for them to check on Emily's knee. "Are you reading a wire and circuit magazine?" Stephanie asks Emily who's on my far left.

Emily turns the magazine back to its cover page, looking at it and then Stephanie. "Yeah." She answers with a big smile. "I am. It's really interesting." She tries to convince us.

"This wouldn't be nerves, would it?" I ask, leaning forward to looking at the blonde.

"I really need this to work out, you know," Emily says, nodding.

"We know, and it will." Stephanie answers, shooting her best friend a smile. "Just don't worry about it, okay, everything's gonna work out."

"I know." Emily replies brightly as Stephanie shoots me a scared look.

"Plus, if there's anybody that can take down Elite, even with an injury, it's you." Stephanie adds as the doctor comes out of the room.

"Emily." The doctor calls. "Come on in." She adds.

"Good luck, Em." I tell her as she places the magazine on her seat before following the doctor in.

"She's gonna do great." I tell Steph, once Emily leaves our view.

"Yeah, she is." Stephanie nods.

Stephanie and I busied ourselves with the magazine Emily left behind as we flip through the pages Emily comes out of the room abruptly. "Steph, Noelle, let's go," Emily says quickly, grabbing her purse.

"I could totally fix my blend now. This magazine's awesome." Steph says, pointing to the page.

Emily gives a fake smile. "Ready?" She swallows.

I grab my purse, swinging it over my shoulder before getting out of my seat. "It went good, right?" I ask.

"No brace, I'm fine." She replies quickly, shrugging her shoulders. I eye her, watching as her tense body moves out towards the door with me and Stephanie following behind her.

We walk for a few minutes in silence, getting as far from the doctors as possible. Stephanie and I send each other warning glances on who's going to speak first, the last thing we want to do is set Emily off.

"So, how bad is it?" Steph asks, breaking the ice.

"Can we just not talk about it right now?" Emily dismisses the topic as a frown forms on my face.

"You're not coming to Internationals, are you?" I ask, receiving raised eyebrows from the blonde.

"So are you gonna tell Ms. Kate?" Stephanie asks.
