Chapter 62

I woke up with my body aching all over. The early morning sunrays blinding me at this ungodly hour. I sat up, and suddenly realized what had awoken me from my fitful sleep. My stomach twisted queasily. I leaped into action, ducking under the tent flap, and ran into the bathroom to retched my insides out.

"Damn morning sickness," I muttered, flushing it down.

I stood up, and returned to the tent we had pitched last night in the middle of the living room, after washing out my mouth. Around three am, when our state of mind wasn't all that sensible, we decided to pitch a tent so we could all sleep together. Don't ask me why struggling over a tent made more sense than just pulling out sleeping bags, but it made sense last night.

We figured in celebration of me coming back, we should have an all night movie night. Mom and Dad let us be, and headed upstairs after dinner and a movie. Not long after we wound up in a popcorn fight. We then settled down to have a Fast and Furious marathon. Around four I couldn't stay awake anymore, and I was the smart one who suggested we all sleep in a tent together. That way we woudn't have to be separated. We spent another hour setting up the damn thing, and laying out several sleeping bags on top of each other to create a giant mattress on the floor of the tent.

Nobody other than the boys seemed to be home. I crawled in through the flap, and nudged Dylan over, who was closest to where I had slept for a short three hours. My body was exhausted, and I just hoped I would be able to fall back asleep.

Sure enough, my own mind kept me wide awake. My thoughts wandered mainly on my baby. It was so funny how just a few hours ago I was acting like a child, while at the same time my body was preparing itself to become a mother. Well I wouldn't be a mother if I didn't get a hold of Jace anytime soon. The thought always instilled fear in me.

I crawled out from the tent, and decided to call Jace quickly. Maybe then I would be able to fall asleep. I searched through the piles of crushed popcorn for my new phone, which my family gave me last night. I had to return the other one to Emily. I found it under a stray couch cushion laying on the floor, and dialed the number I had memorized a long time ago. It rang three times before it came to voice mail. I hit end, and sent a quick text message asking him to call me back.

It was all that I could do with my mind so fogged up from the lack of sleep. I tried to fall back asleep, but found it to be useless. So, instead I decided to feed myself. My stomach was rumbling.

I walked into the kitchen, and started to make a large batch of eggs. I popped some toast into the toaster. Just as I was pouring a glass of orange juice for myself, I heard the toaster finish. I buttered it, and then scooped all my eggs onto my plate.

As I was sprinkling some grated cheese on my eggs, I heard some movement in the other room, and guessed one of the boys had woken up. A minute later Philly came into the kitchen, sniffing the heavenly scent of my eggs.

"Yay! You made breakfast," He cheered, eyeing the large batch of eggs on my plate.

My mouth was too full to tell him I wasn't sharing. He tried to stab a piece with a fork, and I batted his arm away.

"Mine!" I said, after swallowing.

"But there's like half a dozen eggs there. There is no way you can eat that much!" Philly exclaimed.

I gave him a look that said 'watch me', and took a few more bites.

Philly pouted, and popped some waffles into the toaster. I pitied his soggy waffles, and spooned some of my own eggs onto a plate for him.

"Here, only because your waffles look so pathetic," I said.

He hurried over, and started to gobble down the eggs with a quick "thanks" in my direction.
