Chapter 3

"Would you kids like to tell me what happen?" Dad asked again.

Once again, we all sat in silence. I looked around and realized everyone was waiting for me to explain. I huffed out a sigh. I caught Adam shaking gently as he held back laughter. I glared at him until he looked up and saw me glaring daggers, he immediately sobered up.

"Why me?" I asked no one in particular. I heard several grunts from across the room and started.

"I found out about the Stephens pack, that they were threatening to hurt me. I realized that I wasn't supposed to know that and just got pissed off. Well, um... Steve was sorta picking on this kid, so I went over and dumped my food on him after he denied knowing anything about that." With each word I was picking up more speed. "So then I ran out and hid in the woods. When I came back out of the tree I found one of theirs waiting for me. He chased me, and then I managed to crawl under a car. He bit my ankle when he tried to pull me back out, and ruined my new boots." I was suddenly upset about my boots. They were brand new. He so owed me a new pair.

Well that got Dad quite. He was trying to process what I had said. The problem with having a dad as a pack alpha was that he didn't only worry about us before anyone else. He made sure what ever he decided, no matter how little, wouldn't affect the pack. A small crease started to from between his eyebrows as he was obviously trying to figure out what to do next. I saw someone else across the room look deep in thought as though they were all talking with each other. Mind link. I hated it whenever they used they mind link to talk with one another, and I couldn't be a part of it. I was just about to word my thoughts as we all snapped our head to the front hallway where we heard soft clanking footsteps, that could only be from heals, coming our way. A tall woman in a grey suit jacket and pencil skirt hugging her amazingly thin body, after having 3 boys, walked in. Her light honey blond hair was pulled up into a tight bun with a pencil sticking up. Her face was down looking at a folder in her hands. She was too deep in thought to realize how many of us were here.

"Honey, what happen to the evidence photos from the shop lifting at Tiffany's last Friday?" She asked and looked up. She let out a gentle yelp as she saw over half a dozen teenage boys in her living room.

Both of my parents were lawyers. My mother worked on criminal cases. She enjoyed trying to help those who were going to jail, and tried to decrease their time. She rarely got the chargers to be lifted other than that huge case in '09 were a women was accused of stabbing her ex, but she pleaded she wasn't in town. My mother must have spent hours in her house looking for something that would prove her innocent. She found a receipt that she had paid for with her card, from Pit-Stop for a bag of chips and some soda. Her receipt had the town and her name on it proving she was out of town on that date and time.  That had pushed her career far ahead. My dad mostly just helped her out and did the smaller cases, because he was constantly busy with the pack.

"Hi boys, shouldn't you all be in school?" She asked. There were some no's, some chuckles, and a couple of shaking heads. "Well why are you all home?" Her gaze landed on me on the couch with my ankle propped up on a pillow.

She hurried over to my side and pulled off my sock and rolled up my jeans. "I'll go get the first aid kit," I heard someone mutter.

"What happened, Eliana?" Worry was covering her voice. Adam returned with the first aid kit and handed it to her.

"I swear if I have to explain one more time I will scream," I seriously meant it. I heard another chuckle, and shot a glare at the chuckler.

I looked at Mom's face and realized someone must be explaining it to her through their mind link. "Stupid mind link" I muttered under my breath. Barely loud enough for werewolves to even hear, but I still heard laughter.
