Music has been my passion since I was a kid. My sister taught me how to play piano and I really did enjoy it, but I found an instrument that I really could play so much better.

The violin.

My family and I went to the WCKD center. WCKD stands for "World Class Kennedy Department."

(Lol just go with it... You'll see where the Kennedy comes from in a little bit)

A select group of students were chosen to be playing at this concert and I felt a tad bit nervous. I usually didn't get nervous at all when it comes to performing, but right then, performing in front of all those people... some nerves were getting to me.

I smoothed out my dress and walked inside.

My family went to go find their seats, and wished me luck. My mom told me that'd I do amazing. I smiled and thanked her.

My teacher told me where to go and I started to warm up with the other people performing. My A string was slightly out of tune and I quickly adjusted it. Then I was ready to go on.

We had to wait quite awhile until some people working told us to start getting ready to leave.

The girl next to me looked as though she were about to puke.

She caught me looking at her and she said, "I'm about to hurl."
I kindly laughed and responded saying, "Nice to meet you. I'm Y/N."
"Brenda." She nodded, "That's a nice violin."

I looked down to my prized procession, thinking about how it was one of my favorite gifts.

"Thank you. I like your viola."
"Thank you. It was my grandma's." She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and said, "Oh god, I'm so nervous."
"You'll do great." I tried to assure her.
"I'm not even supposed to be here," she whispered, "the person whose place I took is sick."
"Well, you're here for a reason and you'll do great." I replied.
"You're the most optimistic person I've ever met." She laughed.

"ATTENTION! WE CAN START MOVING ON THE STAGE NOW!" A man, whose face resembled a rat shouted.
"HEY!" A women with her hair tightly pulled back shouted, "LISTEN TO MR. JANSON!"

We filed down a hall, Brenda nervously chatting with me.

The excitement I started to feel when my teacher offered me this spot was beginning to resurface, and I felt giddy.

Brenda and I wished each other good luck one last time, and went to sit with our same instrument sections.

I sat towards the front, and took a deep breath, ready to begin.

Before I knew it, the curtains were opening and the light that shines down on us made me smile. It was starting!

After we played a few songs, some people were excused from the stage and I saw Brenda leave. I moved further towards the front of the stage.

I would be playing in a quartette and then I would be playing a solo.

My mind raced, remembering back to when my instructor told me that college scouts would be here, watching.

This was it: my big chance.

***

After a moment of completing my quartette piece, I started to play my solo. I lost myself in the music. My bowing and rhythms were flawless and I felt the corners of my mouth turn up. I was playing effortlessly.

Before I knew it, the song was over and the audience cheered. They didn't just cheer, they gave me a standing ovation.

I grinned and my heart beat rapidly in my chest. It was breath taking.

Once I was out of sight I jumped around and grinned, spinning with my violin in my hands. It was as if I were a little elementary school girl.

Brenda ran up to me and joined in on my excitement,
"Y/N! I didn't know you were that talented! That was incredible!"
"Thank you!" I grinned.

A boy with blonde hair and warming brown eyes walked up to us and Brenda told me that she had to go. I said goodbye and the boy introduced himself.
"Hi, I'm Newt Kennedy."

My jaw dropped. Newt Kennedy? The owner's son?

"It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Y/N." I held out my hand for him to shake. He took it and I felt even happier than I was before.

"That was amazing playing out there." He looked impressed.
"Thank you." I sheepishly smiled, looking down.
"I especially liked how your eyes lit up when you played." He smirked.

Oh my god, was he flirting with me?

"I especially like your smile." I blurted out.

He chuckled and I started to apologize, "I'm so awkward. I'm so sorry. I-"
"Would you like to go on a date with me, Miss Awkward?" He interrupted me.

My heart skipped a beat. I just met him. I just played in front of thousands of people... So much was swarming my mind.

I opened my mouth and did what the butterflies in my stomach told me to say,
"Yes."

Lol I play the violin, but I'm not very good. I feel like Newt would play the piano... If he played an instrument.

FYI!! The next imagine is one of my favorites!!
