AU #7

It's hard to come up with AU ideas... but I recently read "If I Stay" and here's an AU for that amazing book!

Also, this includes some ideas from "If I Stay" so that also includes some SPOILERS!!

It was strange, the feeling of not being one with my body.

It was also strange that my mother, father, and brother were all dead. Wiped away. Like writing on a chalk board and then erasing it, but the words were still faint and you could still read them.

Although, strange isn't the only word I would use for it.

Every second I spent locked in the ghost-like state made reality hit me even harder. And harsher.

Newt and The Gladers (his band that I always watch) waited in the waiting room for me. Newt even managed to see me.

I don't think I'll ever be capable of laughter ever again, but the show they put on for Newt to be able to sneak in and see me... that was pretty comical.

When Newt held my hand, I longed to be able to actually feel his touch. To actually speak with him. To actually kiss him.

My choice. It was so close to being decided. In fact, I knew what I wanted to do.

Newt talked to me. He cried as he spoke, making the situation even more difficult. I couldn't bare to watch him cry.

He held my hand and the longing to actually feel his fingers wrapped around mine was so strong. Too strong.

"Y/n, you have to stay here. Please, Y/n, please. Please."

I wanted to talk to him. To tell him that everything would be okay. To tell him that I loved him one last time before I finalized my choice.

But that's not how that kind of thing works.

So before I was in my body-like state, I whispered a goodbye that I knew he couldn't hear. I took a last look at my loving boyfriend.

That was how that kind of thing worked.

But something happened. I changed my mind. He changed my mind.

Seeing him and hearing his voice crack as I had chosen to die— I couldn't do it.

I had to stay. For him.

"Y/n?" He whispered as I had felt his hand in mine.
