"It's awfully simple." Newt told me.
"No, no it's not." I glared at him.

He had it so easy. Too easy.

"It's just running." He shrugged as we jogged another lap.
"No!" I huffed, "It's not 'just running'! For your information, running is hard!"
"Whatever." He smiled to himself.

Just after we finished up another lap I said,
"Newt, I'm just going to support you. Not run with you." I eased my body into a walk and he called out,
"Okay!"

I sat in the grassy area reading and watching him every once in awhile. I liked the way his hair got all crazy when he ran.

"All done." He plopped down next to me, barely out of breath.

It was the big track meet. I was in the sidelines watching in anticipation of the (hopefully) big win.

He could do it. I knew he could.

Before I knew it the mile race began.

It was going by so quickly because, well, the runners were really fast.

A dark brown haired and black haired boy were close behind Newt, but he was still in the lead.

You should know that once you're in the momentum of running you can't just stop right away. If you do that you can get shin splints.

So when Newt crossed the finish line first I cheered with delight. My boyfriend had won!!! I know he had been wanting that so badly and I wanted it for him equally as much.

My smile changed in an instant when I saw the tumble Newt took a fall a few meters after crossing the line.

My heart stopped and I saw his face contort in pain.

I started to panic and I ran onto the track to go to him.

"Newt!!" I screamed, "NEWT!!!"

It looked like he was dizzy and people were carrying him off the track.

Someone was calling an ambulance and I sat by his side, brushing his messy hair off of his forehead.

"All done." He muttered.

I gently kissed his lips and held his hand.

His parents were on a business trip and couldn't watch one of the most important meets of the year. They also couldn't be there for him when we were in the ambulance or in the hospital.

In the hospital they put Newt on heavy duty painkillers and told me the details.

"There is a slight probability of Newt having a limp. Could you please tell me again, what happened?" The doctor added.
"He fell. At a track meet." I sighed.
"I'm sorry but he'll have to go into surgery right away... and spend the next few nights."
I nodded as they started to wheel him away.

I fell asleep and was thankful it was a Friday because I didn't want to leave Newt to go to school.

I'm not quite sure what time it was, but when they brought Newt back in he was either unconscious or asleep.

I laid next to him and held his hand, trying to fall back asleep.

"You're cute when you sleep." Newt mumbled. I woke up and blinked several times. I smiled and then kissed him.
"How do you feel?"
"I don't know."
"What do you mean?"
"I feel happy to be with you."
"Neeeeewwwwt! I meant your leg!" I blushed.
"It hurts." He took me by surprise and kissed me.

He gently placed his hand on the side of my face, brushing away the hair, as he slowly kissed me.

"Kissing you takes my mind away from the pain." He mumbled.
"I love you." I whispered.

I felt in shock.

Did I just say that?

I really meant it, but I was nervous because we had never said it to each other before then.

"Y/n, I love you more than I can explain."

I tucked my head in the crook of his neck and smiled more than I had ever smiled in my entire life.

"It's amazing what can happen in a hospital."
"That's true." I said, still smiling.

I just wanted to say thank you to all those people who read my imagines and comment and vote you all rock and make me very happy!!! ❤️
