"Day one Greenie, rise and shine." Gally words that always were the first thing that the classic Greenies always heard. That was their greeting on the day that lived in infamy.

"Shuck it with that, Gally! It's pretentious!" I called out to him as I peeked over the edge of the box's opening.
"It's not pretentious. He's the Greenie and it's his first day."

A boy peered back at me.

"Hello, Greenie. What's your name?" I ignored Gally.
"T-Thomas. Where am I? Who are you people? What's going on?"
"Hey, you're alright. We're in a place that we call the Glade. You have to promise me not to run, okay?"
"Why will I need to run?"
"Hey, hey! I said that you won't need to run." I chuckled lightly.

Alby says I'm the calming one in the Glade. I'm usually a big part in the welcoming committee.

"Why will I need to run?" He questioned with plenty of suspicion. He almost seemed angry.
"People get afraid. That's how this world works, Thomas." I seriously stated.
He nodded, making sense of my logic.

"So can I help the shank out of the box now?" Gally asked, clearly annoyed.
"Go for it."

Thomas seemed suspicious of all the Gladers, well, except for me. Of course the shank tried to run, and Alby had to throw him in the pit. After the whole drama episode I went to find Newt.

"Hi, love."
I smiled and gently kissed him.
"Hello. Did you know that it is our three month anniversary?"
"I had no idea." He joked. I playfully hit his shoulder.

That brought me back to the time when I was helping out the Greenie and at the bonfire Newt asked if I would like to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes right away. I had a major crush on him ever since I came up in the box.

I rested my head on Newt's shoulder and wondered what tonight's bonfire would be like.

The night sky was calm. I had my back rested against the a log and I stared up at the sky. The stars twinkled as I sipped some of Gally's famous recipe.

A sudden approaching had me turning around.

"Oh, uh, hi." Thomas said as he sat next to me. I relaxed. I had always been prone to flinching.
"Hey, Tommy boy."
"'Tommy boy?'" He quoted, with a smirk, "Alright then."
"Well, I guess, why not?" I took a sip from my drink and we quieted. I started to wonder where Newt was...

"How are you?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that? You are the Greenie, after all."
"I'm... curious about everything. I just wonder why we were put here... I want to be a runner."
"You have a death wish?" I snorted, "Trust me, you don't want to be a runner."

I thought about Newt's limp and felt depressed.

"Hey, are you-"
"I'm fine." I snapped. He looked taken back, hurt even. "Look, I'm sorry, Tommy. I really am. I didn't mean to snap."

We sat in silence and he nodded, accepting my apology.

"You know what I'm most confused about?" He asked.
"What?" I softly replied.
"Why they would put a girl as pretty as you in a place like this." Thomas scanned my face and stared to lean in just as I turned away. And just as I turned away I was being yanked by the wrist.

"Ouch! Ouch!" I rubbed my wrist and suddenly realized it was Newt pulling me up and away, "Newt, I-"

He firmly pressed his lips to mine and I melted into him. He roughly kissed me and I felt very glad to see him, even though he was only trying to hint to Thomas that I was taken.

Thomas looked very shocked and said that he didn't know that we were dating.

"Well," Newt coldly glared at him, "now you do." Then, more softly and quietly, he whispered, "Happy anniversary, love."

Newt was jealousssssss!

Anyway, leave a comment on what you think! I'd love to hear back from you and no worries, I don't bite ;)

Have a great day!
