Chapter 51: Waking Up

Riley's POV:

Pain. That's all I can feel all around my body.

I opened my eyes slowly. I looked around and I realized I was in a bedroom. The last thing I remembered was when I was in the car with David and Steve. I tried sitting up but I felt a huge amount of pain on my stomach. I hissed in pain as I laid back down flat on my back.

"You shouldn't try getting up," said a familiar voice.

I see Steve sitting down on the couch on my right side. How did I not see him a while ago? He got up and sat on my bed.

"How long have I been out for?" I asked curiously.

"About a week," he told me.

"You stopped breathing twice. You almost died." Said Steve, frowning.

"I don't plan on dying anytime soon," I told him.

He chuckled.

"Yeah I hope not. The world will always need you. I will always need you." he said sincerely.

"With what?"

"I don't know,"

I smiled. It's great to hear that someone actually needs me. The door opened and David walked in.

"It's great to see you alive again," he said as he grinned.

I grinned back.

"Any good news?" I asked, hoping to hear some.

Their smiles faded away. I'll take that as a no.

"As of now we have no leads on where Jake is. Trent manipulated us to tracking down the video he sent us so he can get you killed. So the video is out of our list. Well we actually have no list." David informed me.

I groaned. It's pretty much impossible to save Jake at this point, I took a deep breath as I sat up again. I ignored the insufferable pain coming from my stomach.

"You can't move around much yet Riley. Your wound can open up again." said David.

"We can't waste any more time." I told him sternly.

He sighed.

" Alright, Steve take care of her," ordered David.

"Will do," said Steve.

I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not a kid."

David ignored what I said as he left the room.

"Help me up, please?" I asked Steve, giving him a sheepish smile.

"Of course," he chortled.

He hopped out of my bed and he scooped me up effortlessly, carrying me bridal style.

"I asked for help to get me up not this," I told him as I hang onto his neck.

"I want to," he said.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Why?"

He just simply shrugged as he walked out of the bedroom.

He led me outside at the front porch. He set me down on the bench. I admire the view. I love how peaceful it looks here. Just a gigantic field of fresh green grass and some tall trees. The fresh air was very calming. I never get to see these kinds of view. It's always been streets, cars, and pollution.
