[Tonya]

"Congratulation!! You're pregnant." Those were the words that I heard the doctor explain to us and now were sealed inside my head permanently. Sami looked at me with sadness in her eyes.

She was scared.

I glance down at her hands to see that she was tightly cuffing the two prescription papers that she received from the doctor. I grabbed her hand, holding it tight to reassure that I was here for her.

Once the doctor had left the room turned to Sami, "spill."

She stared at me for the longest, ready to tell me what happened but was stopped when one of the nurses came in with her discharge papers.

"Alrighty, sweetheart, I need for you to sign these papers, and tomorrow you will be all set to leave on a clean bill," she says, bringing over the roll tray for Sami to use to sign the papers for her release. Once she was done the next left the room leaving us alone to talk.

I poke her shoulder to grab her attention once more and she turned to look at me with a small smile on her face. "I think it would be best to tell you everything once I am discharged since the medical team will be in and out checking on me," she says before sliding down on the bed, turned her body away from me, and pretty soon she fell fast asleep.

Moments later, the nurse came back in the room with the patient copies that she stated that she will bring back for Sami.

The nurse noticed Sami was sleeping and tiptoe into the room. She signaled me that she placing the papers on the stand next to Sami and in which I nodded to acknowledge. She then tiptoed out of the room slowly closing the door behind her.

Later, Sami woke up from her nap to see me getting up to leave from out of her room. "Where are you going?" She asked.

I place my scarf around my neck, tucking it into my coat before slinging my purse over my shoulder. "My Uber should be here soon, so I'm going to head down t the front. Remember, I came along with you in the EMS yesterday so, my car is still at the cafe."

She hummed in response before she slips out from the bed to head to the bathroom.

I tell her goodbye as I close the door behind me but letting her that we weren't finished discussing you-know-what.

Once the Uber driver drops me off at the cafe, I head to my car and hop inside to drive over to Sami's place to pick up an outfit for her to wear when she's discharged.

As I am driving to her place, I start to remember meeting Sami a couple of years ago when we were in high school. She had just moved into our neighborhood and was staying with her aunt.

Sami was a very quiet person, always keeping to herself. When she introduced herself in class, we all found out why she moved so late in the year.

Her parents had recently died in a car accident and the only family that she had was her mother's aunt. So she had no choice but to move in with her. She was told to sit in the only empty seat that was in the class which was next to me.

"Hi I'm Tonya," I said to her. She turned to me and smiled before pulling out her notebook to take notes.

As the school year progressed, we became good friends, more like sisters since I neither one of us had any. She was the one that would try to stop me from doing something stupid and I would try to open her up.

I was the shoulder to cry on when she had her first boyfriend, first experience, and last first breakup. Now I am going to be there for her first pregnancy as well.
