[The World Ends With You] Neku x Reader: God Knows

"Neku, did you hear about the Christmas festival?" Shiki asked, a twinkle of curiosity in her eyes. "No, what about the stupid Christmas festival should I care about? I haven't gone since I was seven."

"Y/N's playing at the concert they're holding! I'm surprised you haven't heard about it." Shiki folded her arms, frowning at the dumbfounded Neku. He had forgotten Y/N was in a band. Lead singer and lead guitar, in fact. How he had forgotten when he was listening to one of her songs at the moment, he had no idea. "What song is she playing?"

"I don't know. She said she was writing a brand new song just for this concert. She said she'd be selling it as a single after the concert in a nearby booth. She wanted me to tell you since she's too busy rehearsing the song with her band." Neku nodded.

He was internally screaming and jumping for joy just hearing about his best friend playing at the concert, and it at least gave him a reason to actually go to the concert this year and not just record it on his DVR and leave it sitting there for about three months before watching it and wishing he'd actually gone.

"Thanks, Shiki. Um, admission is free, right?" He asked nervously. "Of course it is. Anyway, she said her band was performing at 10, so it's best to be there early if you want a good view." Again, he nodded. "Got it. Thanks. Anyway, I gotta head home. The festival is tonight, right?"

"Yup. Don't be late, okay?"

"Trust me, I won't."

-Time Skip to the Concert-
Neku stood in the crowd, who had begun to cheer loudly when Y/N's band began to make their way onto the stage. "Hey there, everyone! I hope you're all having an awesome time here at the Christmas festival! Before we begin, I just wanted to tell you guys that we'll be selling CD singles at that booth over there after our performance! And, don't worry, we made so many copies that there's like five crates full of CDs in a nearby booth for safekeeping. Anyway, without further adieu, here's our new song, God Knows!"

With that, the song started, opening up with a seemingly complex guitar solo. Once the solo was over, she bounced up to the mic, swallowing a bit before breathing in and singing the words she had memorized so easily.

The crowd was cheering, waving their glow sticks in the air. Neku simply watched in amazement. He knew Y/N had a wonderful singing voice, but hearing it live-in person- was so different. But, it was a good kind of different.

He joined the crowd in their cheers, a smile on his face. Y/N noticed the ecstatic male in the crowd, her smile growing.
