(One Week Later)

I wake up in the middle of the night again after having the same dream I've had for the past week. I am feeling better, runes are finally staying on my skin, but this dream won't go away. I take a deep breath, then close my eyes again, falling back asleep.

"Cecily." I hear my Dad call from the other room. "Alec's here."

"Can we just ignore him?" I mumble under my breath as I get up and get ready for the day.

Today is the day we are continuing my training, I wish it wasn't though. Training is boring. I throw on some gear, my long blonde hair goes up into a high ponytail to keep it out of my face. I strut out of my room to the dining room where Alec has joined Magnus for breakfast. I sit down to join them, helping myself to eggs, sausage and toast. I pour myself  coffee. I yawn, then take a sip of the coffee, I instantly feel myself wake up. I take a couple bites of my breakfast before I ask Alec what we will be doing today.

"Some target practice with knives and bows." Alec explains, being more focused on his food then on my question. Relatable. I won't judge him because I do the same thing all the time.

"On live targets?" My voice is filled with hope.

"No." Alec seems saddened by his answer, "not yet anyway."

"Darn." I mutter as I finish off my eggs. We all finish breakfast, then Alec and I head into our temporary training room. "So what first?" He throws a knife at me, which I quickly catch.

"Catch." He tells me after the fact.

"You sure about that?" I sarcastically ask, "I thought it'd be fun to-oh I don't know- LET IT HIT ME?!"

"I knew you could do it." He smiles.

"Your supposed to be the smart one." I scoff, "I bet you Jace wouldn't throw a knife at me."

"No your right he wouldn't." Alec smirks, "he'd throw five at you."

"Ha ha ha very funny." I roll my eyes, crossing my arms at the same time. I throw the knife into the target across the room. I miss. Instead the knife flies into the wall. I curse at myself.

"There's a reason for training Cecily." Alec reminds me as he struts over to the wall and pulls out the knife. "Let's try again. This time stand in correct form okay?" We do this over and over again until I get it right. Two hours later we do the same thing, Just with a bow instead. We stop only when Alec's phone rings. "I have to go." He hangs up the phone.

"Where? Why?" I ask, following him out do the room.

"Demon attack downtown." He begins to leave, but I step in front of him, blocking his way out of the room.

"Let me come with you." I demand, he gives me a doubting glance. "Come on! I haven't been training for nothing!"

"Don't tell Magnus okay?" I grin when he gives in.

"Don't worry I won't be the one to tell him." He just rolls his eyes when I say this. I grab some knives, and a bow staff. I sheathe the knives in various places in my gear and attach the bow staff onto my back.
