Chapter 35- like some pathetic loser
Btw you guys haven't seen a lot of romance between Cayson and Venus, it's because this book is more focused on her lifestyle. How she's living her life after being abandoned. I do try and add romance between them but just know this book isn't about their romance. It will turn into their romance soon so you only see cute moments between them for the time being.
Anyways, happy reading!
___
"Venus," I hear a soft whisper when I walk outside the classroom.
I turn my head and find Cayson looking at me with a expression which I couldn't quite figure out.
I turn my head the other way and walk alongside my friends before I hear him shuffling and hovering behind me.
"Venus, I need to talk to you," he says but I don't respond.
As we are all walking slowly, Kate turns her head sideways and narrows her eyes but I purse my lips and she turns back to Chris.
"Venus please, I—" he starts, pulling me by my forearm as I swiftly turn around and look at him.
"Leave my hand," I stiffen and try my best to pull my arm back to myself but he doesn't let go.
"Look, I'm sorry Venus, I didn't mean to. I overstepped and—" he starts but I interject.
"— yeah you did. You overstepped into my business with my friends. Who do you think you are anyways to tell me what to do? Yeah we are in a contract but that only requires making songs together, not stay together. So, next time if you want to give a piece of advice to me, think before talking," I reply back and pull my arm back to myself.
He looks down at the ground and takes a step back. I quickly turn around and walk with my friends.
___
"That was intense," Tyler comments but shuts up when violet elbows him. "What?"
"Shut up," violet whispers.
"Fine, jesus woman," he mutters back.
"Are you okay?" Kate asks and I nod in return. "Are you sure?"
"Yes Kate, I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine," I snap.
I feel her shifting back into Chris' arms again and I close my eyes shut. "Fuck," I mutter under my breath.
I look up to find her looking at me with sympathy. The thing I hated most. The same look which everyone gave me when I was on drugs.
The one and only look which I have hated ever since elementary. Once everybody found out I was abandoned by my parents, that is the look everyone gave me.
It angers me to be looked at, like that.
Like some pathetic loser who had been abandoned, who used drugs and doesn't know what to do with her life.
I am tired of it!
"Don't look at me like that," I say, looking at them all.
"Like what?" Kate asks.
"Like I'm some pathetic loser. I don't need your guys' pity," I snap.
"No Vee I didn't—" I heard Kate say but I just took my stuff and left before she could finish her sentence.
___
I walk to my car and stand next to it in this heat. A drop of sweat rolls down my forehead and I wipe it away and start breathing hard.
