"Mrs Somerhalder, would you like to come through?"

For the last few weeks Skye hadn't been feeling herself. Her ribs were hurting, her chest felt tight.

She'd always been warned there could be prolonged issues from her car accident, serious issues could just occur as if from nowhere. She couldn't stop thinking about it, worrying about it.

Deciding enough was enough, Skye finally decided she had to see someone, had to find out exactly what was wrong.
She hadn't told anyone of her fears, not even Ian. If something was terribly wrong she wanted to know first. She needed time to find a way to tell him.

That morning Skye was supposed to have her huge meeting with Netflix, her role on upcoming show Stranger Things more or less confirmed.

She couldn't put it off any longer though, couldn't quash the worries that were infiltrating her mind. What if it was bad? What if it was really bad?

Luckily Skye had managed to push her meeting back a couple of hours, an emergency Doctors appointment then taking its place.

Once she was sat in the Doctors office Skye could feel herself becoming more and more anxious. More and more on tenterhooks. Now she was wishing she had told Ian. She could have really done with his support.

"So, Mrs Somerhalder I've gone over your medical records, and I'm glad you came to see me. I'm sure it is nothing to worry about, but with the injuries you suffered being so severe it is worth getting any aches and pains looked at."

Skye was asked to lay down, lifting her top just enough so the Doctor and present female nurse could feel her ribs before doing a more thorough examination.

"How long have you been feeling the pain for, Mrs Somerhalder?" The nurse asked whilst taking notes.

"About a week. It's right where my scar is," Skye flinched as they pressed firmly with cold hands.

"And your job is quite physical?"

"It can be, yes."

After feeling her stomach and asking some more questions, Skye sat back at the desk, ready and waiting to find out if the Doctor had worked out what it could be.

"I can't find anything as of yet, hopefully it is just a pull or strain. I would like to run some more tests though."

"What kind of tests?"

"Blood and urine for now. If the results are still inconclusive then we will look into delving a bit deeper."

"How long will it take?"

"This practice is state of the art, Mrs Somerhalder. As soon as we have your samples I can have them run, and results in hand within the hour."

"Ok. Let's do it."

About 3pm that afternoon, a dazed and dumbfounded Skye walked on to the Vampire Diaries set, Ian busy filming whilst Brooke was being watched by Kat and Michael.

She had her test results, found out exactly what was 'wrong' with her. She'd also had her Stranger Things meeting, that not going how any of them had expected. Now she just had to tell Ian.

"Hey Princess, how did the meeting go?" Ian asked with a big grin, the two now taking a break in their joint dressing room as Brooke took a nap.

"It was interesting, definitely interesting," Skye laughed off, her eyes avoiding Ian's at all costs.

The second she reacted like that, Ian knew something was going on, something was amiss. She was keeping things from him and he didn't like it, he didn't like it one bit. "Right, what's up?" he asked, kneeling down at her feet as she sat on the sofa, his finger pushing her chin up so she had no choice but to look at him.

"Why would you think something's up?"

"Because you're crinkling your nose and chewing on your lip. You only do that when you're nervous. What happened in that meeting?"

"I'm not doing the show," Skye shrugged as she properly looked right into his eyes for the first time.

"What? Why? You were so excited. I thought that part was yours?"

"It was, but...but things changed, things hap...happened."

Ok, now Ian was seriously freaked out. Why was she stuttering so much?

"Skye, what the hell is going on?"

"I'm not gonna make it," Skye began to cry, happy or sad Ian couldn't tell.

"What do you mean?"

"I wouldn't make it until the end of filming. They can't have me just disappear half way through the season. It wouldn't work. They had no choice but to drop me."

Ian still didn't get it. He didn't understand. If he was honest he was starting to get seriously frustrated. Why couldn't she just come out with it?

"SKYE, JUST TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK ALL THIS MEANS. YOU'RE SCARING ME," Ian couldn't help but shout as she joined him on her knees on the floor, her hands then cradling his face as a shaky smile broke out on her own.

"It means that in about 8 months when they're still filming, we'll have our hands full with something else, well someone else."

"Someone else?"

"What do you see when you look at Brooke?" Skye deflected by gesturing to their little munchkin still fast asleep in her travel cot.

"Our daughter, our baby," Ian answered, his attention caught momentarily by the perfect bundle sheathed in pink.

"Do you want to know what I see?"

"What?"

"I see a big sister."
