Class 3E
---Nagisa's POV
It was dark, and I was walking through a road where I always take when I was still a fellow junior high student. It was peacefully quiet as I climbed up the stairs that leads to our old classroom at the top of this peak.
I read the letter that Mr. Takao gave me earlier after meeting up with Dad, and it demanded me to visit the old parliament building, and probably expecting to meet a stranger.
Awhile ago, I asked Mr. Karasuma for me to take the night off for today, and he unexpectedly agreed to my request. Karma was also brought up, and I asked him to come with me on this meeting.
"Say Nagisa, what are we here for again?" Karma asked me while we were still taking steps.
I reached for the letter in my pocket and showed it to him without saying anything. I thought it'd be straight-to-the-point giving him the message I received instead of telling him about what I think of it.
"Well, let's see..." Karma brought out his phone and used a flashlight on the letter so he could see it clearly.
Dear Nagisa sensei,
I have important matters to discuss with you. Meet me at your old classroom at the top of the hill if you want to know what's going to happen next. Bring Akabane with you if possible.
...was what the letter said.
"Hmm...It's strange. I have a feeling that this is a trap." Karma said with little pessimism.
"True. But in order for us to find out, we have to see it for ourselves." In just a short amount of time, we finally reached the the end of the stairs.
Somehow as we reached the top, the view was new to us. Street lamps were already installed, and the road was paved with bricks. Did the school made a few renovations here?
"Whoa!" Karma and I were captivated. Even if it was night, we still were struck with awe.
"Took you long enough to get here, Nagisa-sensei." At the midst of everything, a voice came out of nowhere. Then, the stranger who we were supposed to meet up, showed himself behind us. When light shone his appearance, we instantly knew who he was.
"Asano!?" I said out his name the moment I realized it was him.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" Karma's behavior towards him never changes.
"What a surprise. I didn't expect I'd see you again, Akabane." Asano was the same. "Especially when you're already wearing a suit."
"Yeah, but look at you! I assume you've taken the place as the principal, am I right?" Karma was observing Asano from head to toe. "You look like the spitting image of your old man." Karma said.
"Please, don't bring him out on this matter." Asano sounded a little upset.
"Asano, was it you who sent the letter?" I asked him at the middle of their conversation. But this was no time for an insulting reunion, so I butted in without hesitation.
"Indeed it was I. But I apologize for not putting my stamp on the letter. I was in a little bit of a rush." Asano briefly explained.
We started walking on the pathway made of bricks while listening what Asano has to say.
"As you can see, this place is being renovated into anew. But this isn't my doing." Asano said.
Karma and I were a little bit shocked. Though, mostly, we're just confused. If it wasn't him—the principal of this school, then who did?
"There are many schools that heard the rumors about your class being special, even though the school treated it as the lowest scum of all." He said that last part with little remorse.
"So, one day, each representatives of those schools approached my father, the former principal, and asked him to turn over the place as a classroom for summer classes. My father was against this will. But as many months went by, we were running short of faculty staffs, and before I knew it there was no one left to be the adviser of class 3E." We were sad upon hearing what the school had went through, trying to hold class 3E in its former self.
I glanced back at the surroundings of my old classroom. This wasn't the class 3E that I knew. The name of the classroom was fading, and a few structures were built beside it. Kunugigaoka was losing the place.
"So, what do you want us to do?" I asked what came into my mind. Telling us this matter led me to only one conclusion. Even if we were former students of this classroom, we can't just let the other schools take it away from us. This is where Korosensei's home is, it must be protected.
"As a former rival of your class, and the current principal of this school, I did what I could to talk to the other schools about stopping their intent in taking class 3E. Their reports have been said, that the classroom was being inhabited these past few years. Currently, we're still low on amount of teachers, so the students enrolled in this class were transferred to the main campus." Asano explained us how he was dealing the situation.
"And when I heard about you being a teacher, I suppose you wouldn't turn your back on education now, will you?" Asana looked at me with a glare, which disgusted Karma though.
"Okay, hold your tongue for a sec. Let me guess it for you then. You want Nagisa to transfer to Kunugigaoka and be a teacher in this class, am I right?" Karma butted in.
"That's where your intuition is wrong, Akabane." However, Asano told him off and answered the opposite. "I don't want him to transfer, but I'm asking him to hold classes in the classroom from now on, be it summer classes, or perhaps club activities would fine." Asano said.
"So, you're basically saying that you need me to run a class in this building?" I asked him.
"Yes. In fact, your school is just a few meters away from here, right? So it shouldn't be a problem." He said.
"So as a fellow principal and a teacher, can I ask you this as a favor?" Asano lowered his body forward and begged us. "Please protect class 3E."
Karma and I looked at him a little dumbfounded and embarrassed. It's the first time seeing Asano beg us like this. But it couldn't be helped though. He asked me for this, so in other words, he knows that only I can save this classroom.
"Well, I could have just taken your offer even if you didn't beg." After I said this, Asano stuttered a little and lifted up his head to look at me.
"E class is in trouble. There's no way I'd turn my back on this place. Besides, in my opinion as a teacher, this place is a learning spot for students." I smiled upon taking the offer what Asano had asked of me.
"Well, I suppose knowing you, I didn't chose the wrong person to ask of this. You have my gratitude." Asano placed a hand on his chest and bent forward again, but he was thanking us this time. He was trying to look like a real principal this time, and he indeed looked like one. A responsible principal who'd never leave his school in peril.
"One more thing." Asano added. "I don't mind if you want to tell your other former classmates about this since they can be use of help. And don't worry about your expenses. I've already talked to the principal of your school, so you have nothing to worry about financial problems." Asano explained the perks.
This is was the first time I've seen my classroom from about 5 years. And this wasn't the view I was expecting to see. It had a breathtaking renovations, but it was founded that Kunugigaoka wasn't the school renovating the place. Our class 3E is in trouble, so there's no way I'm going to let things happen on their own from here.
