"Oh, it's absolutely not a good idea. Jared could find me and kick me off the team, my family could be framed since I'm with a Zombie, and you could be sent to downtown if they saw us together. Also, don't you have a curfew? You're breaking it."

"Oh." Connor said, shifting slightly. "Yeah. Sorry."

"No! No, no, no. No I want to be here." Evan moved closer to Connor, smiling as he took his hand. "This is... this is the best thing I've ever done."

"But you could get kicked off the team. You love cheer." Connor said meekly. "You've always loved cheer."

"And I love you. Okay? At this point, I, I, I want to be kicked off the team. If it means that it draws awareness to how, how uh, mistreated you guys are, I'm willing to do anything." Evan mumbled meekly, smiling up at Connor. "But honestly. Don't worry about me. I'm worried about you."

"Me? Why?"

"Well, aren't you getting like, shammed for being with me?" Evan asked, looking up at the stars from the rooftop. "Don't they hate you?" He asked, softer than before.

"They already hate me, Evvie. I'm not a normie." Connor took a breath, looking over the town. "But to answer your question... yes. They-my friends, are worried, and the town is breathing down my back. They think that this could make or break everything, and they're waiting for me to fail. And if I fuck it up...But I don't care. It doesn't matter, because I've always fucked things up. But I won't with you. You're the one good... you're the one good thing that's ever happened to me, Hansen."

Evan didn't respond for a long time. He let a small smile break through, and leaned into Connors shoulder. They both let out a soft sigh, letting the night air surround them.

"I didn't realize it, Murphy, but... I've never been happy before. Thank you for... for finally showing it to me."
