Brian

"Do you want something to eat?" I asked Katherine.

"No. I don't- uhm...where's Kaleb?" She asked. She was dressed and sitting in the kitchen.

"Probably at home...probably drunk or just now sobering up...or preparing to get drunk." Alina immediately caught an attitude.

Katherine's eyes drifted over to Alina. Katherine smirked and sat back in her seat. "That's right. I converted him back into alcoholism for my own benefit and now I'm the villain again."

Alina pursed her lips.

"Well, I'll take the lash for that because it did not get my memory back."

"How are you, Katherine?" I finally asked.

She looked at me and pushed her hair back. "I am fine. I need my brother."

She stood up slowly and wobbled for a few minutes before going to get her keys.

"Katherine, I need you to not go. Seriously, just take this night to relax." I followed her, Alina was hot on our trails. "You need to sort yourself out."

"Okay, so I don't have any memories and you all are miserable. And now I have every bloody memory again and I'm supposed to what? Sit and meditate? Fuck that."

"Listen." I stepped in front of the exit. "Katherine...I need you to realize that I have not seen my wife for months."

"Brian-" Katherine began with a sigh.

"I've been seeing this stranger. Prancing around and acting as if she was my wife. But she wasn't." I let my shoulders drop. "I need to stare into your eyes tonight and just soak up that look in there. I have waited patiently for you. So please....one night is not-"

Alina got a text message and sighed. She abruptly hurried out of the house. Katherine didn't seem to care.

"Please care about me for once." I begged her.

Her face fell and she gave me a pained look. "I care. I've always cared about you. More than I've cared about anyone." She held my face.

Her hands felt so warm against my skin. I missed her. I missed her way too much.

"Let me soak this up." I continued.

I could tell it was hard for her to sway her mind about her decision. But I saw her buckle down and she nodded. She wrapped her arms around my neck and held me. I squeezed her waist, feeling emotional. She leaned back a bit to kiss my cheek and laid her head on my shoulder. We stood there for a while. And I felt our connection rekindling.
